He testified under oath that he had over $400 million cash on hand over 6 months ago and said it was growing substantially every month. So if that's true then he should be able to wire out $175mm without crippling his ability to operate his business

Why tie up all your liquidity with a bullshite court case if you can get a bond? Or if you can shame them into continuing to lower the threshold?

My guess is he can probably pull together $25-$50M himself, and get a syndicate to cover the rest.

From Sunday.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) said Sunday that former President Trump’s “reckoning” is quickly approaching if he does not pay the damages in his civil fraud case by the Monday deadline to pay a $454M bond.

Asked by MSNBC’s the Rev. Al Sharpton if he is “confident” justice will soon be served, Ellison responded: “Yes, I am confident and I just want to commend Attorney General Letitia James for pushing justice and making sure that nobody’s above the law, nobody’s beneath the law.”

“Certainly, Donald Trump is being treated just like any other civil defendant. He’s got to come up with the bond, or he’s going to see a levy and execution seizure on the judgment,” he continued, adding later, “His moment of reckoning is coming up quick.”

MSM- appellate court judges are compromised and are Russian assets. Keith Olbermann will be calling for them to be thrown in the gulag.

Problem for DU is that this is a bullshite case that will get tossed on appeal. If they start liquidating his properties and it gets overturned, the city and state of NY are in major financial trouble.

this is the law in pretty much every state. If you have a money judgment entered against you in Louisiana, you have to file a suspensive appeal to suspend the enforcement of the judgment. Same concept in prob every state.

Right - this is already a win. He can probably get someone to issue $175 where half a billion would cause folks to balk. Also, the fees are going to be much more palatable at $175 - if linear, it drops the costs to 1/3 and then makes it a better A to B analysis on whether or not to just post it cash or pay for a bond.

How does it work if it gets overturned on appeal? Does he get any of the money back?

If he buys a bond, I think he's out that - cost of litigation. If he posts the entire thing himself and wins the appeal, he should get that back (but I'm not studied on whatever jurisdictional nuances are in this particular court).

That's how bonds are supposed to work, anyway, but in this case the bond is too damn high, so what do I know?

Isn't the cost of the bond typically 10% or so of the value? Pretty sure that is how bail bonds work.

Why is President Trump being forced to pay bond on a victimless crime? The businessman and private citizen Donald Trump submitted a loan application, the lender did his due diligence, researched the valuations against the loan application and approved the loan. Private citizen and entrepreneur Mr. Donald Trump used the funds to create jobs and enhance the NYC skyline with magnificent structure(s). He paid the loan (principal + interest) back, everyone made money - no victims no crime.

IMO this is a clear case of a rogue DA (and a Biden AG - DOJ) with an axe to grind for Donald Trump. Everyone knows that......everyone.

So have we reached the point where the DOJ Cabal copies the Stalin era? In particular creating a crime where there isn't any?

Where do people keep getting the idea you have to post an appeal bond in order to appeal? This isn't the case and has been explained numerous times here. The bond is to suspend the enforcement of the judgment.

Yep, and some states do not have "bondsmen". You post the "bond" with the stae and the keep up to 12.5% of the bond value whether you win or lose.

It is legal highway robbery in those states, especially with the use of such bogus charges!!
