Is repealing legislation expensive?

And many Americans that don’t see marijuana as dangerous don’t want to see scarce federal dollars go to something as trivial as waging a war on a substance that will undoubtedly be legal across the country in the next 10-20 years.

Then they should push to repeal, not ignore, the laws

This is what a Christian president with a Christian cabinet leading a Christian country looks like folks. If you don't like it go smoke your Muslim drug in another country

The 10th Amendment reads:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

That means that if the federal government says that marijuana is illegal, the states can't come in and legalize marijuana.

We all know this, and we all agree with it. However, this is the one thing this country isn't really divided on. For the most part, we all think the federal government should legalize marijuana.

Bingo.

What I said upthread was clearly unpopular but this needs to be handled through law rather than a policy of looking the other way.

This kind of shite is the legacy of the Obama administration in a nutshell. Eight years of doing whatever they wanted, wiped out with a stroke of a pen by the next guy saying “we will enforce what is on the books.”

It's about time the AG of the United States stops being a single-handed veto of laws passed by congress.

If the law is bad, then congress should pass a law rescinding it rather than having the executive branch of government deciding which laws to enforce and which laws to ignore.

Well Obama could have re-scheduled weed and that's on him, but this is more of a DC / Leviathan issue. The feds love adding power but are too lazy and weak to repeal that power. Then they try to winkwink their way out of it by having enforcement ignore the bad/unpopular laws. That's insanity

And DEM politicians aren't exactly pushing to legalize MJ. Why?

Moron. You don't have a real good grasp on the board. Read the thread before making a fool of yourself next time.

I'd say less than half support the policy. There aren't many liberal issues you'll find half the libs on here disagreeing with (publicly at least)

And saying "if you want legal weed then Congress has to do it" isn't open support for this move.

the vast majority of this board does not defend it. The closest you get is people urging congress to act. You are a moron. Your bigotry clouds any common sense you may have once had.

Good. Im all for sessions enforcing the law. Its his job. Marijuana is illegal and unless the law changes, it should be enforced to the fullest extent.

Amen, it's a law until it's not a law. Down vote away.

this means the federal government overstepped its bounds in the past and now you're supporting that.

no reason the states shouldn't decide what happens with a plant.

It's a dual sovereign issue

It's a decision for either sovereign as to how they regulate the behavior

If you believe in the current, bastardized interpretation of the Commerce Clause (which you do), then the feds haven't over stepped anything

I agree

Obama and the DEMs controlling both houses could have legalized it...yet they didn't

Actually at that time, the Obama administration was even harsher on state-level MJ than Bush had been. This lax enforcement policy came to be pretty late in his tenure

And this isn't just a blind "blame Obama" thing...we all know the GOP won't do it
