DETROIT (AP) — Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, his health director and other ex-officials have been told they’re being charged after a new investigation of the Flint water scandal, which devastated the majority Black city with lead-contaminated water and was blamed for a deadly outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in 2014-15, The Associated Press has learned.

Two people with knowledge of the planned prosecution told the AP on Tuesday that the attorney general’s office has informed defense lawyers about indictments in Flint and told them to expect initial court appearances soon. They spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

So, all these water systems are old and archaic, not taken care of by Dems for decades, and yet the Republican Governor gets the blame?

Figures.

I wouldn’t defend the POS. He was definitely handed an impossible situation due to decades of Dems neglect but he handled it exactly the wrong way.

Instead of turning it into a shining example of what happens under Dem policy, he gave the left a horse to beat for decades.

The governor is responsible for water system integrity? Can you provide a link to that? All water systems in LA are private, co-op or municipal run.

There is a Trump tweet for this guy. “The failed Governor of Michigan, who is responsible for the Flint Water Disaster(and I let him know it!) is now endorsing Sleepy Joe... “

It’s actually not. It’s the municipality’s job. But you have to run up the ladder to find the first person who isn’t on the grievance list to blame.

But frick him anyway. Where that Biden endorsement getting you now gov?

It had little to do with the age of the system and everything to do with them completely denying and hiding the fact that their NEW treatment plant was breaking down the old pipes and releasing lead into the water. It was criminal negligence. They also went after the people that were trying to speak out about it. It permanently damaged thousands of people.

Snyder was elected because Michigan was going into default. He ran on cleaning up the failed economic policies of the state. Transitioning Flint’s water supply from purchasing water from a nearby municipality (as I recall) to the Flint river was one of his team’s initiatives.

The river contained contamination that corroded the already failing Flint Public Water mains. The pipes would have needed to be replaced either way, he just decided to cover up that fact in order to avoid the added costs.

Instead, he should have made a public spectacle of it and forced the Obama admin to front the bill for new infrastructure.

I fail to see how he would be responsible for the out break of Legionnaires. That occurs downstream of the water distribution system in "wet" HVAC systems. Someone just didn't put a bactericide in the HVAC system. That's not the governor's fault.

Now on the lead poisoning if he was trying to hide information, then he may be in trouble.

He/they had a good idea by acquiring a cheaper water source. The problem is the new water source was/is slightly more acidic than the old water source. The new slightly more acidic environment leached off lead from the old pipes. The easy solution would of been to raise the pH to the existing levels to prevent leaching which is really easy.

What you're saying has no relation to reality. This has nothing to do with a disastrous situation left by Democrats. Flint had for 50 years used Lake Huron as its water source up until 2014. Snydor appointed a Emergency Manager reporting to him and that guy was the one who switched the water source to the Flint River which immediately started killing people. They ignored complaints and wouldn't let the city switch back for a couple of years. When it all came out, they tried to cover it up.

In this case he was. The city had been getting their water from Detroit, but his office appoint an emergency manager to run the city's finances. They switched to a cheaper water supplier.

It’s not his job to take care of municipal water systems. It could be that he has exposure here because of covering up knowledge of something. But a governor doesn’t run city water.

This leaves out about 80 relevant details. But close enough.
