The media was as mild on them as I've seen them on any republican candidate in the last several decades. They were attacked, but the worst attacks were PACs. If the point of this was that Desantis will be attacked on the same level as Donald Trump, you're dreaming. No presidential candidate or office holder has ever been attacked like that in history.
