Rex as SecState might have been a disaster.

Who made the decision to hire him? And why?

He might have been a good SecEnergy, or even SecCommerce.

The reality is Trump made a ton of poor hiring decisions and then threw every single one of them under the bus.

At some point it comes back to the guy doing the hiring.

You could have just said you don’t know anything about Tillerson.

gotta disagree with your opinion here.

Tillerson certainly didn't impress me while he was there.

I think his achievements are getting short shrift here - not aware of any foulups - certainly not gonna take the word of someone who could be holding a grudge.

Have not heard him ever say anything impressive.

And at no point in his presidency did we ever feel the confidence that he was getting better at it

So if he's president again you can count on more shitty hires and more turnover

These words by Tillerson make him look petty and hurt and are essentially an endorsement of Trump’s foreign policy accomplishments, which are real and substantive. I wish we still had Trump’s foreign policy instead of the massive damage being done now by the deranged incompetents in office.

Tillerson will barely be a footnote in history, quite possibly the most inconsequential SoS ever.

What about every guy who hired a person or some people who didn’t work out as hoped? It’s happened a time or two. I don’t think it’s rational to judge a person based on their relying upon what would appear to anyone as solid credentials. And not just “appeared”…..they were and still are solid credentials. Same as pretty much all Trump “hires” who are gloated about as epic failures.

Let’s go to the tape: How about the owner of the Miami Dolphins who hired Nick Saban under the reasonable belief that it would yield positive results? Didn’t quite work out as planned, but was certainly reasonable under the relevant circumstances of the time. How about Bill Brasky Belichick? Turned out not so great as a hire for the owner of the Browns all those years ago……but certainly was a great hire for the Patriots. One must surely see the complexities of the process of hiring beyond what’s portrayed here.

See this part I don't disagree with. But the premise from the op? Garbage.

Isn't it funny how Trump had some of the best foreign policy and managed to not start any wars for four years.

And in the ongoing conflict in the middle east he changed the ROE so our troops could crush ISIS. I remember when the media told us ISIS was going to be taking over the world soon.

I really don't care what Rex thinks.

For people who claim to hold DC and politics in general in contempt you sure do hold political achievement in high esteem.

Yes, that is the man I want back in the White House. I'm in favor of mean tweets, cheap gas, and liberal tears.

Not really. Just pointing out how I have contempt for Tillerson like I have contempt for most of the bunch.

It doesn’t matter to these clowns. It’s never Trump’s fault…never. He’s the victim.

But he’s not a politician. There are a lot of people who’ve had very successful lives if you think work accomplishments are a big part of success, and you’ve never heard of them nor will you. The only reason we’ve heard of Tillerson is because he chose to serve, which Trump gets venerated for, but you act like he’s a failure because he won’t be in the SoS hall of fame.

Trump was the best foreign policy President of my lifetime. I don’t give a frick what some guy with an agenda says. Results speak louder than words.

He was inconsequential as SoS. That’s just reality.

It’s great that he became head of ExconMobil. That’s certainly a big career achievement.
