Still don’t buy it. Even full simulation drills or tab,e top exercises have a fail safe disconnect on the actual “live” component that could lead to this.
That is exactly why you don’t trust the people conducting the drill to not push the wrong button.

So this was their first drill in over 50 years? Never re labeled that button

I found out who was responsible!

That doesn't seem plausible. In any other "emergency drill" scenario from mass shooting...hostage..alien invasion, etc, the people know it's a drill. They're just testing the system.
Does it seem odd to anyone, that after decades of these tests going on and after decades of refining the system, this type of "mistake" is even possible? 38 minutes to reissue a bulletin saying it was a mistake?? Really?

If you believe the QAnon conspiracy theory, it was a "warning" from Trump to the deep state. Or it was a "dog whistle" of sorts from Trump to his allies inside the military to commence some sort of operation against the deep state.
Jesus those guys are nuts.

Anyone Really Believe the "Wrong Button" Theory?
The unlimited incompetence of government bureaucrats makes it totally believable.

Variant of 6.
Intention to rustle jimmies, generate fear.
Similar to bush 2's color coded "how scared are we supposed to be?"

It sounds like a very poorly designed test of their push alerts system.

Becuase this isn’t the movies where there is some great chain of command or the special button only one person can access. This is local and state government would you really be shocked to learn that access to the this equipment is fairly open.

The Hawaii Dept of Emergency Mgmt is a state agency run by state employees. Hawaii is just about the most liberal state in the USA.
An incompetent error caused the incident. The logic leading to this conclusion is based on objective facts and a rational deduction.
I will be personally very surprised if any Hawaii state employee is fired for the incompetence of the employee or the incompetent structure of their system.

A red button was not accidentally pressed at shift change.
The Anwan brothers alone gained first hand access to all thanks to the dumbest/most corrupt flock of democrats ever known. Overall, any foreign or domestic enemy could have hacked into the system. The top enchelon of the DOJ/FBI et al... were corrupted to the point of unprecedented standards. The immediate Hollywood, some media response was to blame Trump. So the deep state did it to make Trump look bad for a thousand dollars, Alex.

You raise a good point.
I saw the headline while out and didn't give it much thought, other than "That was a major screw up, Hawaii" and considered that being the youngest state, perhaps it still had some systems left over from WWII and watching out for attacks from Japan.
Some serious potential for Alex Jones-level tin foil porn, but at this point, the entire federal government is providing that.

The fact that they expect us to believe this bull shite is insulting. I would hope at the very least it would be harder to issue an incoming missile alert than it is to set of the fire alarm in the building.

Hollywood has really warped the average person's perception of how the government and military are managed, and what level of technology actually exists. Basically whatever you think might be going on, drop back about 10 years and that is probably the level they are operating at. It is 2018 and we are still running software at our ICBM sites on 8 inch floppy drives, how many people reading this even know what that is.

There's a 15,000 post thread two threads down full of people that think a fricking taco bell commercial is part of a subliminal effort to prepare the masses for disclosure.
I'm sure there are a few people on the opposite end of the spectrum who believe someone bumped into a button during shift change.
