Anybody who says they will not be voting for DJT in 2020 over background checks is a liar

It’s easy to say it behind a keyboard or months and months away from an election, but you know damn well these people’s asses will be in the voting booth on Election Day voting for Orange man

It’s not so much about the die hards and solid Trump supporters

It’s about the fence sitters and soft Trump supporters. It’s not good to give them a reason to depress their turnout. It’s called a tipping point.

frick background checks. They already exist.

It's typical hand wringing by single issue voters.

Only the gop drama queens similar to Ann Coulter will bitch and whine about trump and not voting for him.

What's the alternative to trump? It's Democrat. Third party has zero chance of winning. If the only alternatives are those socialist Democrats....then I'm voting trump. Trump could get on camera and noisily fart..and I'd still vote for trump over those radical Democrats.

If they already exist what's the problem?

I get what you are saying, but I'll put one thing out there for you to think about.

The failure to indict or charge ANY of the players that literally attempted to steal the will of the people is a big deal.

The failure (presumably) to adequately fend off an obvious attempt to take advantage of circumstance to push the gun control envelope would be a major failure. I'm not talking about background checks specifically. I agree that any reasonable improvement to the background check wouldn't apply.

When these things happen, people start adopting the reality that this is a losing battle. They lose heart. And, they won't show up to the polls.

Yeah, these muh red flag and muh background check threads are as pathetic as the shite you see on DU.

Man up pussies!

How many of you have had your lives changed because of the bump stock ban?

How many would have their lives changed if mentally ill people could not buy guns?

You are willing to trade your country just so some pill head teenager can buy an AK-350?

I'm 55, have an LTC, background has been checked, never registered to vote and don't plan on it.

Trump is playing both sides of the coin here, it's his sword to fall on.

The more power you concede to the government, the less power WE the PEOPLE retain.

He was/is the lesser of 2 evils.

Back ground checks? What are you talking about?

Red Flag laws - I will not be voting at all. I will be staying the frick home.

Donald Trump will lose the election over this issue.

Those of you screaming about the democrats better find a way to let team Trump know there is a very large portion of the base walking away over red flag laws.

Mentally ill people can't currently buy guns. But defining down mentally ill, taking away guns based on an anonymous reports that is new and bull shite.

Defending the only thing standing between us and a tyrannical regime is bull shite. Acting like losing the second amendment is OK is being the true pussy.

The key there is the assumption they will be voting. They most likely could never stomach voting for a Dem, but they could stomach sitting home in November 2020.

Exactly. Vote Trump and potentially give up limited 2A rights or let the Dems win and lose all your 2A rights. Easy choice.

Who gets to decide what mentally ill means? Who gets to decide who is mentally ill?

It’s ridiculous how short sighted you are being here and how you fail to see the big picture

If he agrees to an assault weapons ban (which would never pass), he's done.

If they arent lying, then they are fricking idiots for not realizing that by not voting they are giving the dems the election which means bye bye second amendment.

You guys need to learn what a tipping point is

Trump got a lot of votes in 2016 from people who never vote but voted Trump because they didn’t see him as your usual politician

Supporting gun control will cause a lot of these people to say frick it in 2020

Then they are morons.

The next President might seat 2 to 3 justices. If they want to stick it to Trump while losing the entire battle, then frick them for the selfish pricks they are.

Do the clowns think their gun rights will be better off with a liberal as president? Shouldn't the thought of a Liberal Supreme Court keep them from getting their panties in a wad over programs that have already existed in your lifetime?

I'd love to say I agree with you, but any major setback in this particular area could dampen enthusiasm. If the election is close (and when haven't they been, lately?), that could make all the difference in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, etc.
