Here. Present. Nephew is US Army in ME.
Very very proud of him and others in active service right now, especially those in the ME.
If this bothers you, why not move to Russia where your kid won't have a choice whether to serve or not and WILL 100% be sent to a meat grinder.

My son is currently on leave, will be back at his spec ops unit no later than 7/7 (his boss already called him and said make sure his shite is packed and he may be called off leave).
He has spent about 5 of the last 7 years in a war zone - either in the ME or horn of Africa.
He has already been engaged with Iranians on a couple of missions, one of which had Iranians headed to an American base in Iraq with enough explosives to kill at a minimum dozens of troops.
So ya, I have skin in the game.
