When we greatly assisted them in beating back the Russians? That sounds more like help to me, not fricking over. In that particular instance.

All's well that ends terribly, I suppose.

It’s hard to win a war when the US military is controlled by politicians who sit behind a desk, and we play by the “rules” where as the Taliban plays by a different set of rules.
My friend who was in Vietnam said they could have pushed all the way to China if they’d been let loose.
Having said that, I don’t see why we are involved in the ME. They are completely different in their thinking of what’s right and wrong. Their religion is the problem.

That's not the point we're talking about here. You specifically raised that example within the context of "fricking them over". As we were actually helping them at that time, it just wasn't a good example of f'ing them over. In fact if anyone got fricked over in that particular instance, it was ultimately ourselves.

The bottom bottom line on that is they have hated America simply for being America. And if they come over here and do what they did on 9-11-01, it's just not an option to let it go.

What's even worse is that the Obama-appointed brass thinks that our white enlisted men are the biggest threat to our nation.

By that I meant, generally speaking, people who fight holy wars against the infidel in the name of Allah, most all of which consider America a common enemy, even though they may have enemies amongst themselves as well.

We should evacuate the embassy and leave Afghanistan forever but we won’t. Conflict puts millions of dollars in the pockets of our politicians. Soldier's lives be damned.

We should destroy any infrastructure we built, schools/roads/water treatment plants/electrical generating facilities all of it. Leave them the 13th century shithole they crave

Our awesome soldiers never bitched or moaned about going to Afghanistan so I’m really proud of them as they were merely following orders from above.

Military leadership is a disaster. They are just too woke and corrupt.

And also, by all means, do everything possible to avoid protracted conflict with Islamic extremists/fundamentalists, anywhere. Full stop.

That's covered under the no limited war statement.

They is the CIA stoking American hate in the ME and providing resources to those American hating groups to terrorize America and the west.

It's like the FBI seeking out a troubled kid and undercover FBI providing guns and instigating violence. Or arranging resources and motive for an otherwise harmless militia group to kidnap a sitting state governor.

Our government does it to us.

whats crazy to me is that we've been there for nearly a generation. There are probably young afghan men that joined the army at 18 and would now be colonels. How in the world were they not able to sustain themselves for a couple months without us?

The entire country is a generation older now. Their way of life has to be different than it was 20 years ago. And this was not enough for civilians to fight for their own freedom from the Taliban?

That country desperately wants to be a 4th world shite hole. Their wish came true. Im just hoping we get our people and allies out. Im not sure this administration is capable of dealing with the Taliban to make that happen

Is there a list of things we've built, from schools to infrastructure projects ? I'd love to see a video or photo library of all that we've built for them?

Funny none of the administrations felt the need to promote that to the public.

Yes.

Some highlights:

quote:

USAID completed the construction of three generation plants in 2009, 2016, and 2019 and is constructing three solar power plants and a wind farm that will add 110 megawatts of power to the national power grid, offsetting the use of fossil fuel. When construction is completed by the end of 2023, an estimated 3.5 million Afghans will have access to reliable and affordable energy.

quote:

Between 2003 and 2017, USAID built and improved more than 2,000 kilometers of roads, linking Afghanistan’s five most populous provinces and facilitating travel and commerce. Thanks to USAID, Afghan businesses can more easily transport their products across the country and citizens have improved access to urban centers. The 2,000 kilometer road has bolstered economic growth along the entire corridor and improved the lives of hundreds of communities by connecting once-remote villages to schools and clinics.
