OK, not exactly a PoliBoard topic, other than the "banned for violating terms" thing sounds a lot like the rogue crap that Twitter and FB have been excoriated for when posters stray from the orthodoxy.

I got locked out of my LI account. Got a notice (via the iOS app) that I needed to upload a photo of my ID for verification. If this had been an email, or even a web page), my Spidey-sense would have gone off. Inside the iOS app, it's less suspicious.

Anyway, I nosed around for a bit to see if this is a thing, and apparently LI has been requiring this lately.

So, I upload a pic of my DL, then got an email with a couple of minutes that my appeal had been denied and my account was permanently restricted.

Reached out via their Twitter account, and now I see I am not alone. DM from Twitter tells me they are looking into it, but volume has spiked on these issues.

The whole thing sounds sketch AF.

I was perma blocked from Facebook despite never having posted anything in the last few years and having no political content on my feed.

Something is up with big tech.

You got locked out of Linkedin because of something you did on Twitter?

Believe it or not, some people actually do promote their businesses on social media and get results from it.

Not everybody is posting kitten pictures from their cubicle.

Seems like a bad idea posting comments that stray from the orthodoxy on a website that caters to employers look for new hires.

Your mileage on Linkedin varies from mine.

Uploading pics of your dick leash will get you banned every time.

I’m more surprised that people use LinkedIn.

I've noticed a surge in anti-vax and "died suddenly" themed memes, so maybe it's that?

Don't forget, LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft

My profile is probably over 10 years old at this point

You only use that when you are looking for a job, I think it is weird for people to use it like FB or Twitter. It is just a place for recruiters to hand out

Welcome to the New World Order.

At one point I was one of the highest ranked Linkedin profiles, not top 20%.. top 20 profiles.

Today? Persona non grata, I don't exist. They didn't like some of my ideology.

Had nothing to do with that.

It was crap like this that positions you as psychotic:

It's because people create fake profiles to "work" for companies they don't actually work for. Krebs on Security

Per LinkedIn profiles, Apple had 576,000 employees. Problem is, they only actually have 165k.

Your DL pic was probably declined based on AI matching. It should have been manually reviewed when you requested it, but this is typical customer service for IT companies.

If a social media website told me to send a pic of my DL, I would have told them no.

Great, another example so I don't feel alone. I tried to join Facebook to view a Facebook advertised business site that does carpet and electronics installation in boats. That was the only way I could view their work and the only reason I tried to join. So after all these years I joined Facebook. And after being asked to and sending in a photo I was forever permanently banned.
I guess I'm on the FBI watch list for my political leanings. We all know Facebook/Meta communicate to censor other voices.
I saw some journalist on TV who says Facebook knows everything about everybody. And I must not have passed their purity test. Yeah, big tech needs to be taken down.
