France has a history of rebellion, though mostly from people thinking they aren’t leftist enough.
In this case, it seems to have gotten popular support because the gas tax hits everyone so heavily.
Actually, That's not true. In the late 1950's there was essentially a coup that went down due to the Algerian conflict and the French government's handling of it. The people especially in Algiers wanted a tougher response. De Gaulle saw this as opportunity and went to Algiers and says to the crowd " I have Heard you" He ended up getting elected because everyone saw that he was going to be a hardliner against the Algerian rebels.....except in the end he sold out the people in Algeria(pieds noir)

On one occasion in 1941 Churchill spoke to him on the telephone. De Gaulle said that the French people thought he was a reincarnation of Joan of Arc, to which Churchill replied that the English had had to burn the last one.[121]

Seeing posts on twitter that Swedes are burning immigrant shelters...grass roots protests are starting in Australia and a bus in England surrounded by people where the guy on top of bus with mega phone shouting "we want trump".
Could be seeing the tide turning against globalism here.

I’d be curious to watch the Swedish actions.
Maybe this is their version of a Tea Party, with a bunch of pale blond guys wearing turbans and fake beards burning shite.

As awesome as this would be, why would French Generals have to sign on to the UN Migration Pact?

This is such a stupid talking point. Outside of their two quick defeats to Germany in 1870/71 and 1940, France has had one of the top militaries in the world for a long time.
They were for centuries, and still are the predominant land army in Europe.
There wasn’t a military in Europe that could have stood up to the Nazi’s in 1940. The only reason the UK wasn’t forced to surrender at the same time was that Churchill was able to get the BEF off the beach at Dunkirk. The English Channel and the related logistical complications for the Wehrmacht did more for British survival than all other factors combined.
Outside of that, EVERY country on continental Europe except the Russians folded like a cheap tent, and they came damn close to losing too.
