It depends. Let's check back in 20 minutes and see if they have capitulated or not. If they have then yes it is true, but if they have not then it is not true.

Regardless of the truth to this coup business, the whole situation strikes me as Macron being up shite creek.
The last time this shite happened, 1968, it concluded with de Gaulle dissolving the republic and calling new election, which his side won handily. And even then he fled the goddamn country until a solution presented itself.
I don’t see Macron coming out of this stronger like de Gaulle did.

I can't believe the French are standing up before Germany, the UK, and Sweden. I guess that's how far down the shitter Europe is these days.

France has a history of rebellion, though mostly from people thinking they aren’t leftist enough.
In this case, it seems to have gotten popular support because the gas tax hits everyone so heavily.

We need to egg it on by posting pictures of our cheap arse gas prices to all of their twitter post
They pay more in tax on their gas than we pay total

I don't believe this is true but French Paramedics and Students have now officially joined the protests.
The worst of the French rioting has been on the island of Reunion where it has been really violent.
