In terms of debt accumulation is seems like the best combo is an R congress and a D presidency.

I guess it's a combo of military spending and lower taxes.

What Republicans have you voted for? Further, what Republican policies do you support?

Honest question, what did Reagan do to increase debt accumulation? I’m too young to have experienced it

He was from the government, and he was here to help.

Why do you try to sound so definitive when you speak? I could easily argue that people's inability to be honest with themselves is the root of all of these problems versus your dime store opinion. After your Lemmings comment last night you should realize that trying to make the definitive statement is something that should always be under review

First, Tip O’Neal, Speaker of the House, declared Reagan’s budget proposals DOA every year. He agreed to raise military spending to repair the damage of the Vietnam War and the Carter neglect, kinda like the Middle East and Obama neglect. But he refused to cut the rest of the budget. Social spending escalated faster than military.

Second, while Reagan’s economic policies grew the economy and eventually increased tax revenues, Tip’s Democrats could and did spend it faster.

Bush the Elder, was able to ride the good economy into his presidency where he was also fortunate to have the Soviets collapse under the Reagan offensive. He was then able to cut military spending. Unfortunately for him this caused a very short term and mild slump in the economy. Between “Read my Lips no new Taxes”, “It’s the economy stupid”, and Ross splitting the righ vote, Bush was one and done. Clinton rode the advantage of Reagan’s economy and Cold War victory plus a Republican Congress. By the end of his term the economy began to lag because of leftest regulatory policy of the executive.

Cutting spending costs votes no matter what party you represent.
