Do you actually think that they get no break time or water while working in the heat? Are you that gullible?
Oh and let's talk about HVAC people, plumbers and electricians who work in the same conditions every day and do so to earn a living, rather than being involved in criminal activity.

Points a rifle at them? Maybe they should be allowed to roam freely. But then when they were injured while escaping you would be on here complaining about the lack of supervision.

so the only alternative to working the fields in 100+ degree heat is hanging out at a country club?
Yes

Pretty sure I saw free construction workers working outside still.
Inmates too good to work?

Newsflash idiot, I never espoused such ideas concerning “lack of AC.” Nor did I ever agree with whatever class action is currently pending from Angola prisoners.
I gave you caselaw when you assumed I couldn’t articulate what “inhumane conditions” were.
I posted case cites, as I’d hope you’d gain understanding and conduct some basic research. Clearly you did not.
As for your understanding of “deliberate indifference,” the case illustrated in the post dealt SOLEY concerning prison conditions. And, if you read the case, (which you didn’t possibly because of your inability to articulate the vernacular of legal scholars) you would see that this legal term points to the culpable mind of prison guards/personnel/wardens not some “googled mess” you posted to make yourself seem intelligent on Tiger Rant.
Your slighted sentence directed towards understanding case law is clearly directed towards one of us.
Give the internet a break, I assume your brain is hurting.

Do you believe inmates are earning a living?
Posted on 9/18/23 at 9:29 am to 4cubbies
That is their living. They’re in jail.

Or sit in a cinder-block cell the entire/most of the day. I think I’d like to get out and get some sunshine as well.

Look this post went off the rails with personal crap.
I honestly dont give a crap about the rough conditions in jail or working outside. Screw their rights.....get to work doing what they say and no complaining.........YOURE IN JAIL.
You gave up your rights when you did what you did. Sorry if that is harsh.....but I'm not going to jail for a reason...its bad.

What percentage of offenders in Angola have been convicted of violent crimes?
Likely the majority-
71% are serving life sentences.
The majority of life sentences in Louisiana result from murder and rape convictions.

Class action lawsuit over working in the fields during the heat wave

No, I'm not gullible at all. I haven't read the lawsuit and don't know what is being alleged as unsafe conditions in the heat. I simply suggested that inmates working in the heat have a right to minimum safety practices, just as every other human working in the heat.
Why you so mad?

Look I’m pretty conservative from a sentencing standpoint, but working guys in conditions where they are likely to pass out from the heat seems pretty inhumane to me.
What about people who work in those environments willingly? Or is your problem with the state forcing inmates to work.
I personally think that work should be mandatory. Even if it involves one inmate digging a deep hole and another inmate filling it in.
Give prisoners the Sisyphus treatment:

Hades punished him for cheating death twice by forcing him to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity.

Not at all. I know plenty of people who spent decades in Angola. But I’m sure you know better than they do.
They can either work or they can enjoy the food loaf at Camp J.

I know of some cold blooded killers that have been released from Angola
The one I helped convict was released recently after about 40 years. We convicted him of 2nd degree murder. Life with no parole. The law changed and they let him out a few months ago. Hiss accomplice were released earlier.
RIP Rick Whitener. We tried our best for you.
