Predictably, they are using the child porn angle to start the ball rolling on spying on users. This is only the beginning folks...conservatives will be next. Bet on it.

It sounds like it’s photos on iCloud. Not on the phones. I don’t send anything to iCloud.

Same...I don't want to be part of the next Fappening!
But seriously, as big as apple seems in regards to privacy (not wanting to open phones for LEOs, etc) if you own one (I do, just upgraded to the 12 after having an older one for years) you have sadly accepted that you're carrying around a tracking deice with a camera and microphone...so it would be silly of me to assume they can not/are not inside of my phone as well.
They ought not be, obviously, but I'm not going to pretend to be stunned of I found out they are, ya' know?

Prime example of how the road to hell is paved with good intentions. AI in this isn't exact.
One company in BR I know used to use an application as part of their security suite that would block pics in attachments if they showed too much color of what would match human skin tones. Problem is, anything not human in the picture that may match those colors and can trigger a false positive. Such as a building for instance. That's just to detect nudes not the context of the contents. Human interaction is more than likely needed and it seems way too intrusive.
I get the intention on wanting to do this but there has to be a better way while respecting the privacy of the innocent. If my girlfriend sends me a snapshot of her in lingerie that's for my eyes only. Not for some guy working for an Apple contractor in some third world cube farm.
