In marked contrast, though, when it was discovered that Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign was guilty of violations involving nearly $2 million – an amount that dwarfs the $280,000 in Cohen’s case – the Obama Justice Department decided not to prosecute. Instead, the matter was quietly disposed of by a $375,000 fine by the Federal Election Commission.

You obviously didn't get the memo: ORANGE MAN BAD!

Liberals are just hypocrites with no principles or morals

Hell, Little Adam Schitt just said on Deface the Nation that Trump will probably be arrested the moment his term ends. They are lunatics

Don’t forget the sex slush fund of U.S. taxpayer dollars used to pay off all the flings of Congress, it’s fricking laughable.

Bill Clinton took millions from the communist Chinese in 1996. It was widely reported as an elaborate attempt to push Clinton over the top in his Whitehouse bid, establishing a quid pro quo with the PRC.

This was clear collusion, election interference, and campaign finance violations. Polling at the time showed wide support for a SC, but Reno wouldn't budge and dems in Congress shielded Clinton on a straight party line basis. Nothing happened.

Liberals want republicans prosecuted for ripping off mattress tags, but cover for actual crimes democrats commit.

Bingo. Us old fricks remember this. Young progressive liberals don't want to hear about it.

Cohen formally admitted to hiding a campaign contribution for the purpose of affecting an election, which is a criminal offense, by definition.

The infringement by Obama was not alleged to be intentional, which lead to it becoming a civil matter rather than a criminal one.

Plus, Trump has already made the whole world hate him. That's his major downfall, if nothing else. Obama is smarter than that. So is Trudeau. So is Putin. So is pretty much every other major world leader. Trump's inability to be a decent human being and be relatable to anyone outside of his walled base of support is eventually going to taken him down.

Trump and Obama’s approval is pretty similar at this point in their term. Trudeau has turned into a world joke this year. You’re an idiot.

Cohen plead guilty to a charge. He isn’t the arbiter of whether the elements the government must prove have been met or not. And he pled to his intentions (apparently he only told the truth about that). To tie that to trump and conclude his guilt is so silly.

If there is a campaign finance violation (big if) that’s cohens violation...not trumps.

So the entire world is wrong...and Trump, a highly privileged, billionaire, former Democrat, extreme egoist, Manhattanite (who, by the way, is just a much a part of the Swamp he claims to despise) is right?

C'mon man.

If Trump directed Cohen, they why would he not be just as culpable? If I direct my employee to murder someone else, am I not liable?

Are you not aware of the audio tape Cohen surreptitiously took when Trump specifically states that if there is any payment it must be “on the up and up”? Are you aware intent is an element of the alleged crime? Are you aware that if trump entered into similar NDAs prior to becoming a candidate that would be a defense to the allleged crime? Are you aware the alleged violation is that Cohen made a contribution above the limit. That “contribution” was
Reimbursed, yet the SDNY relies on that reimbursement as evidence of wrongdoing? It’s circular and a bootstrap.

You take a statement made by someone the investigators claimed lied to them at every step as truth and satisfaction of required elements by someone else despite all of the evidence to the contrary? That is silly.
