Fox news anchor unloads on air: Anarchy allowed to rage, ‘yet, if our parking meter goes 2 min long…’
After passionately reacting to the “thugs, anarchists, and idiots” on live television, a Los Angeles anchor admitted he “couldn’t contain my frustration.”
“And yet, if our parking meter goes two minutes too long …”
The impotent response from California’s elected officials evidently became too much to leave unaddressed Monday night when the streets of downtown Los Angeles became reminiscent of a movie from “The Purge” franchise. As such, Fox 11 anchor Elex Michaelson said what a lot of viewers at home were undoubtedly thinking as cops stood back, “I mean, who are we protecting?”
“Anarchists hammer the sidewalk in L.A. to collect rocks to potentially throw at law enforcement. They set cars on fire & vandalize businesses as officers watch from down the street. It’s rare that I lose my cool on the air, but I couldn’t contain my frustration,” Michaelson wrote on X early Tuesday as he shared the segment from the live broadcast where he was heard saying, “I don’t see why it can’t be stopped right now.”
“I mean, you got all these people out there, and we see what’s happening, and every station is showing it happening, and they’re smashing up rocks and they’re setting fires on the street,” he went on. “And yet, everybody is allowed to wander and do their thing.”
“And yet, if our parking meter goes two minutes too long, there’s a ticket right there. How does that happen? I mean, who are we protecting?” the anchor asked while discussing the chaos with Los Angeles Sheriff’s Professional Association spokesman Nick Wilson, a retired Los Angeles cop. “What are our priorities right now as a society that this guy’s allowed to hack the sidewalk. But God forbid I’m two minutes late on my parking meter.”
The former officer responded, “This should be ended right now.”
“I would look at the chief of police in Los Angeles, and I would look at the sheriff of LA County. And I would ask those two people those very serious questions. Because this could be ended right now. It’s not being ended right now, and the people deserve better,” continued Wilson. “This looks like a third-world country right now.”

Man's gotta point.
A lot of good his light bulb moment will do, though.
It's like taking candy from a baby to go after and penalize law abiding citizens. Much harder to deal with actual criminals.

Don't follow leaders and watch the parking meters

They want to nickel and dime the law abiding people, to break them.
At the same time they want to foment chaos.
These types of people are "toxic" for a functioning society and must be stopped and held accountable at all costs.

An ex cop or FBI can't recall which--said that the LAPD were under tremendous political pressure to allow their lives to be in danger over the anarchists.
Good OP. It is so true.

I've got a weird flex. I've never used a parking meter.

I have said for a long time that our law enforcement has morphed into a nanny state revenue collection agency more than a system to stop serious crime.

They say, in San Francisco, if you let the meter run out by 2-3 minutes you have about a 50% chance they are putting a ticket on your car with a busted out window from the bums.

Stop believing the bs. Cops still go out and do real shite every day. Go watch some youtube cop cam channels.
FBI just arrested 250 child pornographers.
Stop generalizing this like you're doing. It looks silly. The riots are a different story. I wish LE would've stopped this crap Day1 with any and all necessary force. I freaking hate rioters and looters with a passion. But this is all political so LE don't really have a say in how things go. Their bosses call the shots. That's bullshite, I know.. but I think that's how these things go.
But on a day to day, cops do real work.

Agreed - there are bad apples - sure - there are bad doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and preachers too.
Cops have a very bad job - they are forced to deal every day with the dregs of society and are REQUIRED to treat them with the respect that is due to upstanding citizens.
That is a mental grind that no other professions ought to have to deal with. I know that I could not deal with it. It takes a great deal of stout integrity that they are not given enough credit for.
And the pathetic situation is that when a 'bad apple' does show up that fault to automatically applied to ALL policemen.

I'm happy about that.
Let's take the stupid stuff off their plate so the can concentrate on the real stuff.
There are more important things than sending up roadblocks to check inspection stickers.

These Cops should just walk off the job and let Bass deal with it. They dint give a shite about these cops. They couldn't care less if one of them died while being told to stand down and let this shite happen

Those aren't really for inspection stickers. They're trying to catch DUIs.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. We know plenty do real work, and there are also plenty that are told to stand down as street takeovers happen in their areas, etc. There's NYPD out there trying, and then there's NYPD walking by a woman on fire in a subway, we get that they're not the same people.
But, to the point, cities prioritize revenue collection "opportunities," sometimes at the expense of enforcing laws of consequence. Cops can only do what they're told to do, how they're told to do it.

They have designated DUI checkpoints for that. I've been stopped in them 3 times.

Maybe this poor schmuck is realizing the reason they don’t do anything is that the people in charge want riots and chaos.

Adam Carolla - In Los Angeles if you smoke on the beach you will be arrested but you are allowed to light a Waymo on fire.

Someone should remind him he voted for that.

Yeah, they use those too to catch DUIs.
