LA Times

My guess is that all those decades of 'Retire Cheap in Latin America' may not be going so well these days.
Thoughts?

Vietnam was still a shithole when I went there.

I went there a few times between 1995 and 98. People still shite in the street and poverty was overwhelming

Just go to California and you can experience this without having to leave the country

Tons of asian girls that have white fever there. They go nuts over getting a white dude's attention. It's an epidemic.

That reminds me of my favorite golf story. I always kept up with the North Korean open. Usually 12-15 players from 6 or 7 countries (South Korea was banned).

There is only one course and you walk with a pretty girl who speaks English pulling your bag on a hand cart. She is also your tour guide.

One British guy was so impressed with her (and her skills in bed) that he proposed marriage. He asked NK govt for permission to take her to London for marriage and they agreed.

That girl hit the lottery.

Looks like we're gonna win the Vietnam War by an immigration invasion like Mexico is going to win the Mexican-American War.

Just look on subreddits like aznidentity who constantly complain about the WMAF epidemic and how asian females constantly belittle asian guys in favor of white guys. They even talk about how San Fransisco is WMAF capitol of the world and how scarce the dating scene is for asian guys in that town.

It's like white girls and black guys with white dudes bitching about it and vice versa with black women bitching about white girls and black guys.

My wife is Chinese but was born and raised in Indonesia. She's been in the states for 16 years (we just got married a month ago) now but kept her house in Indo. She wanted to sell it but I told her to hold onto it because we may retire there. It's a nice place in a prominent are and she has a maid that has lived there taking care of it for the past 16 years. We are visiting it soon to decide if it is a possibility.

I can live like a king in a beautiful country for next to nothing.

The family lives in a 20th-floor condominium overlooking the Saigon River and the sprawling city beyond. They bought the four-bedroom, 3½-bathroom unit, measuring about 1,840 square feet along with a separate veranda, for about $250,000 in 2011.

While cheap compared to California that's not exactly out of the norm for some cheaper residential markets in the U.S.

You could probably get a similar deal here where I live.

Bone spur surgery is a lot cheaper in Vietnam than it is in the US nowadays.

That sure not in my future. I have had requests from other Nam vets to go back and visit the areas we were deployed back in 68-69. These are not your normal tourist areas and are somewhat remote. I wavered once but didn't go through with it...too many bad thoughts and demons involved. After all, why would I want to go back to a country were I lost some of the greatest guys you would ever want to be around? I certainly wouldn't ever want to live there!
