non-hothouse tomatoes,

I have yet to find a tomato coming from Mexico that tasted worth a damn, especially for the price you pay for it.

Oh the horror!!!!

I know this might come as a bit of shock, but Mexico is not the only place Avocados are grown. Sure, having to go elsewhere would make Avocado's more expensive, but the US could get them from Peru while Mexico suffers the $2.6 billion dollar loss (newsflash -- Mexico needs that money more than the US needs "cheap" avocados)

Yeah, they pick them early and ripen them either in transit or in ripening rooms once they reach their destination, because moving ripe tomatoes hundreds or thousands of miles is a recipe for tomato sauce. But out of season, people still need tomatoes, and the terrible ones from Mexico are still cheaper than the terrible ones grown in hothouses.

Avocados are life - I make guac 5 times a week. But I will sacrifice for our God Emperor.

1.5 large avocados
2 tbs freshly chopped cilantro
2 crushed garlic pods
1/2 medium tomato diced
1/3 large onion diced
1/2 fresh squeezed lime
1 tbs cumin
1 tbs Zatarains creole seasoning
1. If OP thinks avocados taste like cardboard, I am thinking he does not understand that you must let them ripen after purchase.

2. Never tried Zatarain in guac. I use Julio’s seasoned salt. Recipe looks outstanding.

And if Mexico can’t sell their avocados in the USA?

They can sell them to the 100.s of thousands of El Salvadorians camped out at the border.

That's like asking me if I want to be killed by a knife or a bullet. Terrible is terrible, either way.

Dude, where do you live? I live in TEXAS, and they freeze to death most winters. I gave up on them.

Why wouldn’t butter be “nature’s butter?”

In the fruit/vegetable class, avocados are very high in fat. That's why I don't eat them.

Damn, that's really bad. If I have to choose between avocados or a million undocumented immigrants, I'm going to choose the avocados coming across with the undocumented. That's not something I can give up! Rant farmers, can you seize the opportunity and grow more avocados north of the border??
