I really don't care. Never liked those cardboard tasting things anyway.

quote:

If President Trump follows through with his threat to close the Southern Border with Mexico this week, say goodbye to your avocado toast.

A top distributor and grower of avocados has warned that the U.S. would run out of the fruit in three weeks if imports from Mexico are halted amid any possible border shutdown.

“You couldn’t pick a worse time of year because Mexico supplies virtually 100 percent of the avocados in the U.S. right now," Steve Barnard, president and chief executive of Mission Produce, told Reuters. "California is just starting and they have a very small crop, but they’re not relevant right now and won’t be for another month or so."

And this is why our trade wars need some tweaking:

quote:

"In 2017 the United States imported $2.6 billion in fresh avocados and exported approximately $28,500 in fresh avocados," according to the group.

Avocados are life - I make guac 5 times a week. But I will sacrifice for our God Emperor.

1.5 large avocados
2 tbs freshly chopped cilantro
2 crushed garlic pods
1/2 medium tomato diced
1/3 large onion diced
1/2 fresh squeezed lime
1 tbs cumin
1 tbs Zatarains creole seasoning

You make your own Guac 5 times a week?

Of all of the weird things you say, that might be the weirdest, unless you work at Chipotle.

Yah guac and beef pho broth are how I break my intermittent fasts on weekdays. Trying to get under 10% bodyfat by my 40th b'day in October

Well it sounds like there's an opportunity here for an American business to fill a needed market

Like I said, just take a mixer, insert some damp cardboard and add a little green dye and puree for one minute. You'll never know the difference.

And if Mexico can’t sell their avocados in the USA? More leverage for Trump. Mexicans’ inability to sell their fruit will hurt them a lot more than it will hurt us.

A great deal of our fruits and vegetables are imported from Mexico when they're out of season here. You may not like avocado toast, but lots of people like oranges, non-hothouse tomatoes, etc.

and this is why shutting the border will get Mexico's attention..... farmers throwing away avocados will hurt

and the horror of no avocados for the upcoming 5th of May celebration.....

The avocado trucks will just have to go though the part of the border that are left open.
