Rumored 1000 jobs with average pay $98k
Governor's press conference at 10 am.
Say what you will about Tate Reeves, he has been good at bringing jobs to Mississippi.

Really good for that area but that estimate is probably skewed by a few positions.

Holy frick, the tax breaks the state and city gave them are probably in billions when all added up.
Sure they brought in jobs, but at what cost. And when it a poor state, ur politicians will sell the tax payers down the river to claim progress.
This as almost as bad as the stadiums being paid for by tax payers, under the house of just tax breaks.

No Amazon, zero tax dollars collected
With Amazon, zero tax dollars collected
What the frick did they give up?

If the state is only kicking in property and income tax credits, nothing.
If the state is paying for infrastucture improvements, then that's some cash they gave up.

Makes sense… IIRC there is a big cargo airport right around the corner from there in the Jackson suburbs.
Edit - misread and thought this was distribution, not web services

Im live posting the press conference.
2 sites in Madison County
Opening in 2027
$44 million state commitment
Contractors are on site now starting the process
6,000-7,000 construction workers expected for the three years - could peak up to 15k
With only $44 million state commitment, payback is expected in months, not years
Madison County Public Schools will see huge amounts of revenue as part of the deal.
Mississippi has invested billions in site development throughout the state and has been able to land these big projects. "The world is noticing. Something special is happening."
"$44 million for $10 billion investment is an easy choice. We have a pipeline of companies interested in coming to our state."
Facility will be the hub for AWS services in the Southeastern US.
Resources will be used to invest in training K-12, Community College and Higher Ed

With Amazon, more competitively paying jobs leading to more state income taxes.

Its not a warehouse. Its an AWS facility.
Madison already has the warehouse.

Why would they not build it in a colder climate.

Maybe for construction. This is likely a lie.

Lands incredibly cheap and colder climates are more susceptible winter storms that cause power outages.
