I spent a lot of years restraining mental patients in college and a little while after. Had to deal with the cops a lot as a result. Short version is they are trained wrong. I could restrain a 400 lb dude by myself without leaving a mark on him other than the occasional carpet burn. Never had to strike anyone in what was probably a thousand restraints. Punching people is not the best use of your energy in that kind of fight. They really don't know what they are doing when it comes to getting somebody under control without injuring them. Didn't say without hurting. Pain is instructive. Used right it gets it over with faster and with less chance of injury to anyone involved.
With that many cops, and they actually knew what they were doing, you could put anyone alive into cuffs. Fast. But they're not trained to do it. That whole "Everything is a life ending encounter" bullshite has gone to the bone on these people.

There's no rational defense for what those cops did. There were three dudes laying on that guy. He wasn't throwing punches or any of that shite. And one of those assholes repeatedly picked his head up and slammed it on the concrete.
That should be an attempted murder charge.

I haven't. Tell me why physical attacks are necessary to restrain this suspect? I'm not saying using force to restrain him or possibly using that force to cause injuries secondary to restraint (like falling to the ground). I'm talking about physical strikes with the hands, knee, or slamming his head in the concrete.

There is no reason for "a few good head shots" to EVER be routine or accepted.
