Yeah, I was born in 1961. I didn't hang out with boomers, I worked for them.
Yeah, they were mean, upity and pigheaded for the most part, but god did I envy them fricks!

Younger people have a much higher standard of living today than when I was a kid. You may not believe it but it’s true. And I’m OK with that and happy for yall. Just stop with the constant bitching. It’s not justified.

I’m a boomer, living the American Dream, and hate the national debt and endless wars.
So instead of describing “boomers” in loose terms, why don’t you say boomer politicians, Cold Warriors, globalists, etc.
Then I could agree with you.

quote:Au contraire, the intergenerational penis envy is more-or-less Gen-Y unique. It is message-derived behavior. The messaging emanates from multigenerational radicals who were always there, but didn't find wide audience prior to Gen-Y.
Gen X here. I know in 15 years when the boomers move on all the Boomer hate will be directed at us.
And eventually when the millennials get to be the oldest generation the hate will turn to them.
So it seems anticapitalist thought, accepted anti-intellectualism, critical theory, rote learning, and rejection of American Exceptionalism ironically took hold in the first internet generation, a generation for whom access to information was greater than at any point in in history. Incredibly, given that tremendous access to information, safe-spaces and nonsensical science instead found footing and flourished. It really is an inexplicably missed opportunity. Certainly that is neither a uniform nor universal precept for 30-45y/o Americans. But it prevails more heavily than in any group since the hippies.
Much as with the hippie-yuppie comparison, Gen-Z shows signs of breaking Gen-Y trends, as well as generationally associated penis envy. Time will tell.

Boomers were born roughly between 1945 and 1965.
Since there seem to be people surprisingly unfamiliar with the term the baby boom was the huge spike in birth rates as soldiers returned home from WWII and got married. The boomers have often been referred to as the "pig in the python" as their outsized impact on culture was evident through every stage of life. And they broke social security. That one's not their fault, per se, but the math behind it needed every generation to be bigger than the one before.

It’s not even worth responding to ridiculous, purposefully antagonizing posts like that.
It’s so easy to secure lucrative, full-time employment right now

Some people take responsibility for thier own lives, and are successful. Then there are people like you, who fail and blame everyone else for your own failures.

People in the Great Depression era alone would simply shake their heads in amazement at this modern take of “we are the only generation in world history to be faced with challenges we didn’t ask for” mentality.
