I’m not agreeing with the stereotypes of 20 years worth of people, I am merely explaining the stereotypes. There’s a huge load of difference, just like there’s a huge load of difference between any generational cohort.

I know that. I am explaining how internet discourse sees them. Those idiots don’t know their arse from a hole in the ground, much like your average OT’er or ranter.

your house was 50,000 (maybe) yeah 18% is high but 50 isnt 300,000+ then insurance and every thing else. frick off with this shite

When $20,000 a year, before taxes with a higher tax rate than the last 45 years was being well paid, definitely no parents helping with down payment. Insurance has only been a real issue the last few years.

these little boys just don't know but fantasize about living life as a boomer not knowing the costs involved.

Gen X here. I know in 15 years when the boomers move on all the Boomer hate will be directed at us.

And eventually when the millennials get to be the oldest generation the hate will turn to them.

It’s just the way of the World.

Thats BS! We had defined retirement programs. Summer and Christmas company parties that included families. Long term employment. Softball leagues, etc

I have a defined retirement program, I've been saving in my 401(k)s since I was 22. Long term employment? Have you ever seen the movie Falling Down? They didn't start calling the Rust Belt that in 2008, it was long before.

Softball leagues and Christmas parties with families? All this Gen Xer hears is unpaid time with work "colleagues." You think that means your boss gave two shits about you?

Have your generational wars, just leave Gen X out of it. We just want to be left alone.

Saw that a while back, does seem to fit better. As another 1963 here I really never felt like a boomer.

The Boomer generation is 18yrs in toto, or 120% the timespan of X, Y, or Z each.

A generation is at least 18 years, typically (or used to be) considered to be 20 years. Otherwise you're talking about "cohorts" within generations.

quote:

"Boomers" basically sunder to two disaffiliated groups. The first nine years (b~1946-1955) aka "Hippies" vs the second nine (b~1956 -1964) aka "Yuppies."

Yes, the Baby Boomers are generally split into two cohorts.

"According to standard accounts, the boomer generation encompasses those born in the long span between the mid-1940s and mid-1960s. But those born in the later 1950s through the early 1960s, like Barack Obama (b. 1961), have a different sensibility than those like Bill Clinton and George W. Bush (both b. 1946). They came of age after the 60s. The cultural commentator and marketing consultant Jonathan Pontell has named them Generation Jones."

"all this gen x er hears is unpaid time with work". I am sorry you ran down the wrong career path and hate your job. My father's boss gave a lot of access to us kids to the company recreation center in the summer time, and summers jobs were available with pay for engineering bound students. I enjoyed my job absolutely and would do it all over again. I think you probably shat on yourself picking the wrong trade craft.
