It’s a fair question. Fewer students = less overhead. At what point does the university see a diminishing return?

Oh I'm aware of what argument the universities would put forth. That doesn't make it valid. And my framing was just fine.
The left along with University leadership across this country has actively used control of government policy to facilitate incredible price increases and heap them upon students.
This all goes back as far as Pell Grants along with guaranteed student loans where the government just keeps supporting more and more money flowing into the system that has nearly zero attachment to economic reality. Thus creating a death spiral upwards of pricing necessitating even more governments subsidization.
So no I reject your premise completely. This needs to be the first of many steps that tell universities to get your fricking house in order because we're not going to keep paying for your irresponsibility

I imagine from both but for the other point, I am speaking only of the way they are subsidized to purchase a business.
I used to own a gas station and it is not a level playing field to compete with Indians at all. Thats why very few white people are able to obtain a C-Store these days

Appreciate the assist but that's really not my point. My point at the bottom line is that the only reason why College cost so fricking much now is because they've created a symbiotic enormous scam using government subsidization of the education system and this can be one of many steps to discontinue that bullshite.
Does this mean fewer people might go to college in the future? Probably so. And if there's a single person on this planet who will with a straight face look at me and claim that everybody going to college now should be I'm just going to have to laugh in their face. Moreover a very unreasonable number of the people in college right now are buying snake oil. Very fricking expensive snake oil. All because somebody told them people with degrees and make more money over their lifetime and nobody had the good sense to ask if that applied to just any fricking degree
