I think I understand what your saying. The workforce I was responsible for had many "spoiled" worker bees and therefore they were more prone to making themselves sick.

Do you recall if they were diagnosed with anything relevant here.

Also note, neither she nor I are in any sort of "panic" here. I am concerned for her well being and "IF" it comes down to it, I would rather she gave them a big F U. But she likes her job.

I read that as the entire department got Covid and 2 of them ended up in the hospital because they didn’t take precautions seriously.

That is MY biggest problem with all this. This is not a medical decision as much as it is an administrative one. Kind of like that yahoo that is/was head of the W.H.O. Not science based, at all.

My professional life as an "Industrial Hygienist" gives me some insight here and I am telling you, in my professional opinion, this is more than your usual "griping staff". Bodily fluids from just breathing, accumulate on the inside of the mask, making it less porous. That in turn keeps more CO2 present for re-breathing and that ain't good. It also becomes a breeding ground for other "gradoule'. There ARE ways to mitigate this, administratively BUT, trust me, not a good idea, day after day.
Lack of proper oxygen/co2 exchange can be a gradual killer the same way slight obesity, slightly high BP, other "slight" conditions.

Those conditions will not kill you today but keep it up every day and that adds a ton of stress to the entire human body. Like the high BP may take years but one day in the future, BAM! stroke or heart attack. Now add a 2nd stressor to the high BP like improper oxygen/co2 exchange.

C'mon roll those die, no snake eyes!

I see this as the hospital putting its knee on your wife's neck.

If she is having to wear an N95 or other similar respirators I can understand why. Honestly, if people aren't uncomfortable trying to breathe in those for long periods of time it is probably because they aren't wearing them correctly and they aren't actually airtight like they should be. If she can get away with it she should just wear a surgical mask. I don't think anyone would ever have difficulty breathing with a surgical mask. They don't really do anything to protect the wearer but they help prevent spread from the wearer, which is pretty much the whole reason surgeons started wearing them.

Yea, but not really all that funny, (IMHO).

So it is funny.

Becuase you are saying "Shutup and just wear the mask."...to prevent deaths yet it is possible that this mask could potentially kill this person and you don't care....that's ironic funny at very least.

Interesting, I would have plenty of questions for them, if I were on the investigation team, (assuming there was one).

I think a mask is not the biggest issue at hand.

Thanks Wise. I am not sure what a procedure mask is, but I believe I can guess. My post was made, (mostly), because this whole Covid thing has me a little more than a little POed.

Having an entire workforce mandated, with no thought to physical variability has always stuck in my craw.

A lot of hospitals use mask wearing as leverage to coerce employees into getting the annual flu shot. Either get the shot or you must wear a mask. I bet almost no one gets the flu shot this year.

Yep, and then add variables like the difference between one employee is a 30 year old marathon runner and another is a 500 pound couch potato. I had to buy a special $5000 chair for a fat arse control room operator AND I had to make sure I was not hurting his feelings while doing so, but that is another, (of many), ridiculous stories of "Safety First", (My arse).

Yea, well don't get me started on HIPPA law, which is another joke. All hospital staff has also had to take a flu shot, over the last few years or, wait for it, they would have to "then" wear a "mask".

Edit; like Griswold said above. Yep, the knee has been on "our" collective knecks for a while. Okay, I'm done.

Thanks guys.
