They are leaving Baton Rouge. LINK

quote:

The Albemarle decision is a blow to Baton Rouge and the state, which jointly heralded the successful recruitment of Albemarle’s corporate headquarters to Baton Rouge from Virginia in 2008 with an incentive package that included $4.2 million in relocation expenses. LED, the city parish, and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber all worked on the deal.

The total deal Jindal worked for them was about $8 million. Mrs. Jindal once worked for them.

He should have never given them our money to move here while native businesses continue to get screwed.

This is an example of the foolishness of picking winners and losers of state giveaways. They have no loyalty.

It's time to end LED, film credits, live music credits etc. and simply make the tax system fair for all business.

What exactly is he wrong about?

Most "conservatives" that I know are conservative only until it harms them or their district or parish. Most conservatives want higher education reform but yet their if their area is hurt all of a sudden they become liberals.

Seems to me only across the board cuts work. Start slow by not giving inflated budget increases. Then start cutting 3% per year until your budget actually works.

I'm not a true conservative, I'm a moderate that speaks out against wasteful government spending.

I don't know if it Jindal's fault or not, but is this now how we do business? Just continue to pay the random so we can say we have x amount of headquarters here?

How about we take the $12 million it woulda taken to keep them and build a fricking road or something. Buy some new schoolbooks. Something to promote business wanting to be here organically.

Correct, Albermarle has a long time presence here but in 2008 Jindal bribed them to move their corporate office here.

Those are the people moving out now.

We give film makers about $180 million per YEAR.

To think JBE said raising taxes was a life or death thing and never called for ending that film welfare.

Jindal and JBE like the film lobby's money. JBE had his inaugural ball at Celtic Studios.

Government is a racket on tax payers dime.

No one tells you that the reason we got x is because we gave YOUR y. They just say we got x.

That's what I thought and I know Ethyl was here in the late 1970's, at least, because I worked for them one summer between semesters in that same building. I thought the company just stayed when they became Albermarle.

Neither party is right or wrong. But we need to address campaign finance reform term limits and tax reform.

Yes I'm typing on a phone so I didn't use commas and there might be grammatical errors. Sue me

So why couldn't JBE keep them in Louisiana?
