You could be like Georgia, voters voted against a gas tax, so the just took lanes off the interstate and created Peach Pass lane. Now if you want to get home quicker, you have to pay them
Every time I drive through Atlanta, those Peach Pass lanes are closed.

So where did they get the money to build the forking roads in the first place.

So other rural areas in Alabama that are in need should take a back seat to you're virtue signaling county?
Hey Chiz.
This is what I was talking about.

“We’ve run out of your money, so give us more in the form of not being able to afford filling up your gas tank”
And people in this state will continue to vote for these so called conservatives as long as they have an R next to their name.

at the gas pump
Words can't describe how furious I am right now.
Would you prefer it was in income tax, property tax, etc?

And we already had a gas tax that paid for those needed repairs. However, the same legislature that decided we needed a higher gas tax also decided to rob the fund to repair the roads of $300 Million over the past several years.
Roads cost more to fix now than when tax was enacted as well as cars are more fuel efficient.

If the roads truly need repairs, the fairest way to do that is through a gas tax. The more you use the road, the more you pay.
Stop your bitching.

I think there is a provision in that law that allows them to raise it inline with rising road construction costs without voting on it.

Unbelievable. Time for a revolution

Everyone wants good roads and police and services but nobody wants to pay taxes for it all.
A great Republican once said that taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society.

People constantly bitch about pennies on the dollar for gas...but will spend $2 for a Coke.
A Coke can't get you to work.

Support.
Our roads are crap.
We need some DOT scalehouses too.

No. You found the one person posting who actually understands what's happening here.
I am not now, nor have I ever been involved with road construction or any level of government. I'm just not an uninformed imbecile like the majority in this thread.

I would gladly pay a $.10/gal gas tax if every penny went to roads and bridges. We have thousands of bridges that have been condemned - if that's the right description.

Alabama residents -
What do we want: The Lottery!
What do we get: ... gas tax
Glad I work from home and my wife is a stay an home mom. We may fill up 10 times per year combined.

I love the bitching from all the impoverished morons who are going to have to pay $1 per car per week to fix the roads and bridges that they've driven on every goddamned day for decades.

You're damn right I don't. I want to pay directly for the service or product.
