You frickers are so backwards.
Here in BR, you need to hire TWO project directors/coordinators before you can ever see an actual list. Sure, you hear about some general plans before, but the nitty gritty only comes after you create some new government positions.

Would it be possible to FOIA some of these road projects? Looking at the I-10 expansion boondoggle that lasted most of my teenage years in Nola. Would be interesting to compare similar projects across states. Given that they use federal dollars, I'm sure it's possible. Would be really interesting to see some documentation on these projects.

Sounds like here where it takes 8 to fill every pothole.
There'll be at least two stopping traffic (maybe more), two to shovel, two to supervise, one or two walking around (and couple more watching). Not saying the bridges and bad stuff doesn't need fixing but they could fix double the potholes with a third less looky-lou's.
Spent some time in Colorado and they put in twice the road (concrete) in the summer months they had to do it. You could notice progress by the week. . . we seem to just drag it out forever.

Did you hear or read that one of the possible objections in the Senate was going to be adding an amendment to change that pot holes could only be filled by asphalt?
We can't use MOTHERfrickING CONCRETE to fill holes.
Burn Montgomery the frick down.

We found the one DOT contractor. There is no reason to have new bridges to Selma. Raise your own taxes.

You had a race based thread yesterday and now this.
Bridges are now racist, I bet you jerked off to the 59/20 on ramp shite.

Rarely is it a revenue problem...
The only "good" part of this is counties will get money to maintain some local roads, which are coming apart... Roads tend to have a 10 to 15 year life depending on construction and traffic level...
According to the bill, the counties and the cities must have a plan for how the additional funds will be spent each year and I know on the local level they are restricted to actual road maintenance/construction (no salaries, equipment, etc)…
My issue is the money going toward the port of Mobile (which should be a self sustaining operation) and the 67% that goes to ALDOT - that is where the money is going to be wasted...

They can’t manage the money they have now. Taxing everyone at the pump won’t solve anything. They’ll piss it away and them raise taxes again.

Try NC. We pay $.35/gallon in STATE tax on top of the $.18 FED tax.
Thankfully I fill up regularly in SC and save $.20/gallon at least.

You will get no argument from me on the overall inability to manage money in the State of Alabama by elected officials but the gas tax dollars have always been pretty well controlled and regulated, especially on the local level...
The issue becomes there has not been a gas tax increase since 1992 - since those are the primary funds allocated to road construction and maintenance, how do you think the annual funds compares to the overall cost of construction?
Revenue in this state are 93% earmarked...
I am not a fan of the gas tax or how it was pushed through either...

That low population areas needing new roads shouldn't be a critical path to the majority? Why are you so sensitive about Selma?
Posted on 3/13/19 at 7:47 am to Tchefuncte Tiger
Revenue streams of both are more voluntary than gasoline tax. I know most places reserve taxes from both towards education, but there is nothing that says they can't be earmarked to infrastructural needs.
Both affect poor folks more, but I'd rather tax dumb poor folks than all poor folks.

before this increase, what was the amount of gas tax earmarked for road and bridge construction?
and...
is the amount set aside from the amount being withheld to repair roads?

You could be like Georgia, voters voted against a gas tax, so the just took lanes off the interstate and created Peach Pass lane. Now if you want to get home quicker, you have to pay them
