Total Capacity: 4 million sq ft (approx. 2,250 acres).Power Density: AI-optimized facilities can operate at \(200+\) watts per square foot.Cooling Load Calculation: High-density data centers require roughly 1 ton of precision cooling per 50-100 sq ft.Estimated Tonnage: A 4-million-sq-ft facility could require roughly \(40,000\) to \(80,000+\) tons of cooling.Water Usage: To support this cooling, the facility is permitted to use up to 23 million gallons of water daily, with projected annual usage between 500-600 million gallons.

For comparison, LSU’s campus is around 25,000-30,000 tons of cooling at peak load in July/august. The water usage is likely evaporative cooling from the cooling towers used by the water cooled chillers needed for HVAC.

Kinda like the society that uses a food source for car fuel. What will they think of next?

If you're referring to corn...that type of corn isn't fit for human consumption

Could be used for animal feed though so you're not completely wrong

Why else would they need over 5000 of these massive data centers?

They vary greatly in size. Most of the existing ones aren't like the big developments like the Meta project in Lousiana. That's massive even by the new massive standard.

Guess what ? There is one in st Francisville being built about 1/3 the size of manhattan. Adapt and overcome jacklegs

Not doing a closed loop at 40,000 tons…..

An Air-cooled chiller is 450t each on a larger unit. A water cooled chiller can go much higher and are way more efficient. Better then 1/2 the kW/T of electricity needed.

To do a 40,000+ ton system you are doing water cooled chillers with cooling towers, with their evaporative cooling for the heat rejection to the outside.

Towers are normally 3.0 gpm a ton (but can be sized for 2.0 or 2.5 gpm ton) and between drift and evaporation about 30% of the water for the condenser water system is lost at full load.

I bet all of the residents in cahoots still use their iphones, apps, Netflix, chat gpt, Google, Facebook, all, apple music, Amazon prime, etc every single day though. It's ok for them to use the bandwidth needed for their precious apps but God forbid putting one of those things near the residents in cahoots!

All these centers making up the new brains to run shite.

Wonder if we will have to elect them? When they are running the government.

The resources used to grow that animal feed or fuel corn could have been used for human consumption or other foods. He's not wrong at all.

Is that water just evaporating? 23 million gallons a day is just disappearing?

I just heard Matt Walsh say that all data centers combined are using 5% of what golf courses are using.

MW did a segment on the AI data center in Richland Parish which will be the biggest in the world once completed. Starts at 24:20.
Did residents vote for on this proposed project in their parish or was this something META did behind closed doors and nothing can be done about it?
