Hard hitting news reporting there. “Some people are making money. Some people aren’t. There’s a lot of activity because it’s a huge project”. fricking idiot.

Agreed. The water issue is a BIG problem, but the "problems" that gal is reporting essentially boil down to "Zuckerberg is not here handing out million-dollar checks to everyone AND building things is noisy! "

Why can't the water be recycled to limit the gross volume needed?

It is. Doesn't make for good scare tactics to sway people who have zero understanding of how data centers operate though.

See the article above. STRONTIUM'S IN MUH WATER, MUST BE THA DATA CENTERZ!!

As I said in a different thread about Data centers what I notice is the councilmen who so enthusiastically approved one to be built next to where I live has yet to request or approve one to be built next to theirs.

That pretty much tells me all I need to know

These data centers are being built to control humanity. It’s a anti human agenda

How do you define "water usage" in this case?

I think some of these people really believe that millions of gallons of water will be taken into these data centers every day, never to be seen again.

I do too.

But, I prefer to have them say it than for someone else to point it out and then have them run from the thread.

I suspect he's going to run from the thread now.

Data centers power AI by converting water in to megahurts.

Electric bills in California were much cheaper for me than Louisiana electric bills already are. I barely ever had to run my air conditioning or heat in coastal Orange County.

I was uncertain due to the incredible amount needed for the overall operation. But others have made me aware it is.

Some do recycle, some do not and even if they do they need to refill every year. One new data center in my state will initially use 8 million gallons and then 1 million per year afterwards.

Louisiana Economic Development group promises this is great for Louisiana. It clearly is not.

I take it you weighed the positives as well to come to that conclusion.

And I have to assume you also took into account your bloodline living under an AI trained on Mao to make sure you were able to clarify that it's not worth it.

Their City Commission voted unanimously to approve the data center anyway

“On today's episode of Taxation without representation in the small little rural town of Fort Meade, Florida, central Florida, one of the very few small towns we have left in Florida, the city council had a meeting last night. Hundreds of people showed up against the data center that's wanting to be placed in this tiny, small, rural town. Everyone spoke against it. Literally, none of the locals want it

— Mind you, the area is already toxic from mosaic and the phosphate mine — everyone is on a water restriction right now. We can't water our grass, we can't wash our cars, but we're gonna put a data center that nobody asks for

— Every single one of those city council members need to be recalled right now. It's time to fight back. It's enough. This sh*t has gotten outta hand”

They voted yes, unanimously 5-0.

The Fort Meade City Commission approved a 20-year development agreement with the developer for a massive hyperscale AI data center project.

The vote occurred after a packed meeting with hundreds of residents, standing room only, who overwhelmingly spoke against it during public comment

It’s true standard municipal wastewater treatment plants often struggle with PFAS because these chemicals don’t break down easily and require specialized, expensive removal technology

The massive amount of water needed to cool the servers in these huge AI data facilities on earth is why Elon Musk wants to place AI servers in high earth orbit where according to Musk the high temperatures from these massive servers are more easily managed.

That may take years to accomplish...in the meantime they are drying up our water supply, polluting our air with toxins that can carry many miles and people who live in those towns/cities are paying more for electricity even though these data centers are supposed to make their own. They also make noise that is irritating to the locals and cause local property values to decrease.
