How very trashy. This restaurant would be better off just letting these folks be mad and never return.

Per the affected family’s request, the restaurant is removing the option to input guest names on receipts from the system, and the organizations that spoke out are working with the restaurant to host diversity equity and inclusion training for all its employees beginning next week.

Stupid.

Mexicans call them "Mayate", which is also the name used for black beetles.

Im always disheartened when I think of a minority that, through affirmative action, social justice, etc. can now attend any public school wherever they want (not true for whites who are zoned), can get a scholarship to most schools based on their color.......and still cant speak a sentence even remotely correct regarding grammar.

It is nice to see the black panthers are representing them for someone putting black on their receipt.

Black people don’t tip.

Restaurant people don’t like this.

It will never be resolved.

So, they were offended by being referred to as their color, though nothing is wrong with their color? If someone put “blanco” or hell, even “Basura blanco” I wouldn’t even blink. So…I’m white…it’s not an insult. It’s accurate.

Tesla,

Living in a country that is mostly people of color, I am frequently the only white person people come into contact with as I walk into places. They announce "Its the white guy". I usually ask them not to refer to me in that manner (the room goes quiet, so I have an audience)....I then say "I prefer GOOD LOOKING white guy". Since Im a skinny bald ole fart, it usually gets quite the laugh.

Latinos are leaving the democrats in droves so the media is hunting for stories like this to attack them as racist.

Negro is the Spanish word for black. Is it possible the person who wrote negro on the check is a Spanish speaker?

As someone who was an employment lawyer for a large warehouse/shipping/logistics corporation for several years...they have been feuding for a good while.

Yes, but if a waiter puts "fat black man" on my receipt, it will sting even if it's accurate.

Of course, but my understanding is that the waiter simply wrote negro on the receipt. I spent 36 years living in Argentina, Costa Rica, and Los Angeles. I'm fluent in Spanish. To a Spanish speaker, the word negro doesn't have the same baggage that it does in English. It's simply the Spanish word for the color black.

A server at a Mexican restaurant in Houston? I'd be shocked if they didn't speak Spanish.

They put "moron" on mine. I took them to court, but my wife testified that it was true.

And as an American born into a world of free people I don't want the baggage either. But I am told I am racist because of my skin color.
