That's going to be hard considering they are the ones who made thing unaffordable...

Trump has completely dropped the ball here. Remember last year when he was publicly talking about how he wants to ensure housing values remain high? And then floating idiotic policies like the 50-year mortgage? And he remains soft on wage-deflating policies like AI and H1Bs?
Creating small-i inflation via war with Iran exacerbated the situation.
There is a reason why young conservatives are forming breakaway parties.
He clearly has no fix for the inflation he and Biden created during Covid.

How much is this is because of liberals and their green energy?

Fast-forward to 2026. Those educational products are now adults, some in their late 40s. They are better off in inflation-adjusted financial terms than in 2024,
Comparing status to 2019 would be more logical, as that's before the Trump/Biden inflation raged.
I mean even 2019 is still not great, considering that followed 10 straight years of government policy intended to artificially increase housing costs to consumers.
It's just that things exploded after Trumps started printing trillions in 2020 and then Biden followed suit in 2021.

Nobody on either side has a Political Will to do what truly needs to be done to make things more affordable. But the one way that we know, beyond all other ways, that do not work in making things more affordable is the Dems’ taxation/handouts model. That strategy has the opposite effect.

Glad to see Warsh is looking at other more accurate ways to calculate Inflation
Trimmed Mean PCE which shows inflation is tamed and of course Truflation which both show the accurate number which is at the 2% target
It will take a while for the mentally ill to accept the BLS has been total dogshite

It’s funny you think things will be more affordable because a Democrat said so.

Meanwhile Trump can't admit we are having an affordability crisis, in fact he constantly harps on how great we have it. There will be hell to pay if he doesn't turn this around and start admitting there is a problem . Do that and then start telling us how it will be fixed. You can't tell the American people everything is fine when middle and lower class struggles.
I am sick and tired of this affordability shite. As I walk out the door everyday all I see is money being spent.
We have people saying we have affordability problems but houses are selling like hot cakes, new cars on the road everywhere, and last night voters in EBR passed every tax initiative overwhelmingly.

When had the left made anything affordable without strings attached?

LOL , when did this EVER happen?

Honestly I see middle class folks driving new cars every day so it seems everything is just fine.
I also saw this in 2008 when everyone said we were in a depression.
The media over-inflates everything for clicky sake.
Yes, groceries and other things have basically doubled over the last 7 years or so. My job is only giving me COLA raises at 4% clip per year (this last year was only 2%). So, I see it as incumbent upon me to go find something else or tighten my belt.

But addressing your contention specifically, in Q4 2020 (Trump's final quarter) inflation was historically low. CPI averaged roughly 1.2% for the year, with Q4 also in that range. Even Q1 2021 was sub-2%.
In these discussions, you seem to focus heavily on the money that the government spent in 2020 as if it must be a nidus for inflation. But the thing that you're not taking into consideration is the fact that the economy was contracting. With GDP down 3.5%, there was less money in circulation. So the added money was not nearly as inflationary as one would expect without looking at the GDP contraction. Obviously without the money, GDP contraction would have been far worse, and the damage far more deep and lasting.
Return to work tracked closely with the politicized deployment of the CV19 vaccine, which was delayed until after the election. Meanwhile, return to work obviously, and predictably, sparked an increase in GDP. So in contrast with 2020's -3.5% GDP, 2021 brought 5.7% growth. Biden's Covid giveaways occurred on top of that.
At the same time, Pete Buttigieg, oversaw one transportation catastrophe after the next, basically obliterating our supply chain. His incompetence created a supply demand mismatch at the same time giveaway money was pouring into circulation. Those details are why there was a distinct difference between 2020 inflation and that of 2021–22.

quote:"Middle class" is a floating signifier. But by common definition in 2026, middle class would fall within the household income range of about $55,000 per year to about $165,000 per year. Those HHI numbers put the effective federal tax rate in the 4 to 11% range.

Yet those are the policies many Americans are angling to return to. It is simply inexplicable.
