I agree. We should wipe China off the map.

This is true, but humans act as the catalyst thanks to the unabated release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, warming it, which in turn results in increased evaporation and accumulation of more water vapor, a more powerful greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. It's a positive feedback loop.

Its funny that people dont believe this even though exxon accurately predicted the rate of warming they were causing decades ago

Proof?

No one disputes the climate is changing. The issues have always been:

A) human contribution
B) what can be done about it

The Earth is still warming from the last Ice Age, which while over 10k years ago is a blink of an eye in the climatic history of this planet.

The industrial revolution started in the 1750s, and only reached a level that could arguably impact anything in the mid/late 1800s (and arguably not until mass production and assembly lines in the early 1900s).

Reliable weather data for vast swaths of the planet (funny how weather is not climate but weather data plays such a huge role) hasn't been around since the late 1800s and there are still HUGE reporting/data gaps in Africa and Asia.

Also, many weather stations in Europe and the US have been overtaken by urbanization, resulting in heat island influences on the data produced.

So, you have an extremely limited dataset that is being used to make global climate proclamations (and let's not even get started about the inaccuracy of every computer model - hell, even the IPCC has been walking it back)

Then, on top of all that, the West has gone to great lengths to greatly reduce CO2 and other "greenhouse gas" output over the last few decades. It's China and India that are the overwhelming contributors these days. The West is not required to kneecap itself for the "good of the planet."

But, the fundamental question is: What is the global temperature supposed to be? Is it whatever is "comfortable" for humanity? That which allows for humanity to feed itself? That is the height of arrogance.

It's funny that the solution is always give more money to democrats so they can spend it on gender studies and fraud instead of actually trying to do something for the people.

But it appears many on this website choose to kneecap their own intelligence by flat out denying humans can have any impact on the climate.

Im not sure what the optimal global median temperature is for human civilization. There's nothing i can do with that knowledge even if I possessed it though.

Everyone that has ever lived in Louisiana should understand how higher temperatures (especially ocean temperatures) impact storm intensity and frequency.

Thats why the guy i quoted in the other post sounded so asinine to me.

Like how did 52 people upvote this? Do people really not understand hurricane intensity is impacted by warmer ocean temps?

Katrina was as bad as it was due to the unusually high gulf temperatures that year.

Well, the climate IS changing

Of course the climate is changing. It's always changing.

Please tell me you think the climate has been the same for billions of years and just now changed the last 100. Please tell me you believe that.

How could we have ice ages and such since the history of the Earth with a never changing climate?

300,000,000 years ago, there was 20x the CO2 in the air compare to now. And sea levels were much higher. Yes, the climate changes.

I'm happy you noticed.

The readers note, right fricking there on the post, literally says that there was no hydroelectric power plant production of any kind during the time of the landslide. The account that posted it is a troll account with no credibility of any kind.

You probably believe that the Earth is flat don’t you?

Read further smoothbrain.

I merely stated the post presented a more plausible explanation than climate change. I never attested to its accuracy or truth.

LOL.
Remember the Katrina year you loons were claiming this more intense frequency stuff was coming?

The gulf gets really hot some years and I don’t think there was really anything special about 2005 water temps.

In the summer of 2005, sea surface temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico rose significantly above normal, exceeding 28°C (82°F) and climbing to around 28.6°C (83.5°F) or higher by August, which heavily fueled destructive storms like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Peak Hurricane Season (August): Waters across large portions of the Gulf surpassed 26°C to 28°C+, with specific tracking sites averaging 28.6°C (83.5°F), which is 2°C to 3°C higher than historical averages.
