don’t know the answer to this, but are there any other militaries in the world that display the battle flag carried against them by an enemy force?

I’d be interested to see an example.

Many Southern Guard units trace their lineage to Confederate ones.

The 1/167th Infantry Alabama National Guard for example. Like a lot of southern formations, they fly Confederate battle streamers too, to recognize their service in the civil war.

It would be awesome if the Confederate battle flag became the official banner of "frick you" against all of these bullshite leftist causes.

Hey cheddar

We honor enemies in the military. All fleet and harbor tugs are named after Indian tribes. If you don't think they were a foe of the US ...well there is a fella named Custer who might disagree ...

Exactly they served the good before the war and if they were still alive after the war they served again . Thanks for undercutting your argument to prove the idiocies in this bs

And in between the led an armed rebellion against the US Government that almost tore the nation in half.

But hey that Mexican American war right?

We don’t name too much after Benedict Arnold either Or Aaron Burr.

What are the odds you celebrated Independence Day three moons ago? I would say very high.

The main lesson from the War of Northern Aggression is DON'T LOSE. If you lose, your enemies will write your histories sooner or later, and your posterity will be engineered to despise you. If you lose your rebellion, you get cringe civnat magic dirt theory posts from guys like Sammy Tiger. If you win, you get annual fireworks to celebrate your rebellion.

We must win at all costs.

Therein lies the problem (or miscommunication)

Most of the posters on here identify more closely with their personal southern heritage than the US as a whole.

The US Pentagon is going to make decisions on behalf of the US as one nation. They aren't obligated to show favoritism despite whatever there previous actions may have been.

For whatever it's worth, I'm not on the 'hate the Confederacy' train, because I know some of these actions are face value. I also know that most of the social ills of TODAY have little to do with the Confederacy.

You are totally ignorant of history

Until the Civil War - the states themselves were the first consideration for people's loyalty.

Northern states had consider secession from the union since day one - it was one of the founding principles.

With no defense of the institution of slavery at all - but it was an inherited institution - If YOU have been born in Mississippi at the time YOU would have been remembered as RACIST by your current self. And you cannot deny that.

Slavery was bad - the generation of the civil war era were the first to grapple with the problem.

I suspect that you are for "women's choice" ==> meaning you support abortion,

Future generations will condemn YOU for being even more EVIL than anyone born in the 1800a.

So get your life straight - prepare yourself for whatever the people 200 years from now may consider the "only true thought'

What the souther states did was completely legal - what Lincoln did was not legal.

And he did not do it to 'free the slaves' - he did it to protect the economic conditions whereby the north relied on southern produce.

He 'freed the slaves" to win the war - not because he was fighting 'racism'

YES - he was an abolitionist - that is why he ran for POTUS - but he wanted to abolish slavery by legislative means. His 'solution' at the time would have been to send them all back to Africa.

I love Lincoln - almost to the degree I love Washington.

All my lineage was from the south at that time. I grew up in the 40's/50s. Complete segregation. I have never held a bad thought for the color of anyone's skin. The blight of slavery HAD to be erased from the earth - and by fate it became the duty of the US citizenry of the mid 1800's to do it - at tremendous loss of life on both sides to the issue.

NOW - there were perfectly GOOD people on both sides of that war - anyone who wants to denigrate my great-grandfathers who fought on the Confederate side of that conflict - due entirely on the odds of where they were born - can kiss my arse.

Robert E. Lee was one of the greatest men of the time. To consider HIM an "evil person" is the height of arrogant and hateful ignorance. He lived by the credo that was extant until just a few decades ago in America ==> "My country, may she always be right, but right or wrong, my country,'

Abraham Lincoln didn't think Robert E. Lee was a flawed human being - he wanted him to be the commander of the Union Army.

Lee - and most of the patriots at that time considered their state for for their allegiance ahead of the union. It went --> family, then city, then state, then union.

You might note that in the aftermath of the war - actual veterans from both sides celebrated with each other - considered each other friends.

What went wrong was the POLITICAL pukes who were hell-bent on PUNISHING the citizenry of the south. Had Lincoln lived, we would not be in this mess. His view was going forward ---> "with malice toward none" <--- that went out the window when he was assisssanated - RECONSTRUCTION for the next 50 years, which concentrated on PUNISHING the poor citizens of the south, is what gave birth to the 'dixie' sentiments - NOT the abolition of slavery.

NOTE - over 95% of the southern citizenry NEVER OWNED A.SLAVE. They just happened to be born into a geographical region where slavery was legal. THAT is the generation that gave birth to the ethos =. "never vote for a Republican" = something my own father drilled into me - and into my children. Republican excesses during the first few decades of reconstruction is what fueled the animosity of the south.

I’m a southerner first. frick the rest of the country they do not like me and I don’t like them. I’d rather the South along with portions of the rust belt, corn belt, and mountain states just break off from the west and east coasts, and upper Midwest

don't get the knee-jerk patriotism of Southerners on this board. This country hates you. It steals your tax dollars to give to corrupt governments around the world. It sends your kids (disproportionately I might add) to die in a 3rd world hellhole so the political class can make another billion or so. And yet, despite all of this, you are regarded as scum by many of your fellow countrymen. You are stereotyped and lampooned by the media and political establishment. And today, you are the root of all evil for half of this country's population. I myself share no cultural or historical similarities with people outside of Dixie, nor do I care to.

Any self respecting Southerner is a fool to serve in this military now, or to allow their children to do so. Why would you serve someone that hates you?

Military should ban flags of losers

We’ve done a fine job rewriting our own history.

We y’all about erasing history and whitewashing it, but that’s already happened and it’s obvious.
