Realistically we are looking at an increased naval and air presence in the region for a minute.
Continue strikes against their weapons and C&C. Use intel and SF to take out their leadership structure. Meanwhile, no boots on the ground. Total Blockade and No Fly Zone to keep Iran from re-supplying them.

Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier.

So, a Connecticut-based company wants the U.S. Navy's protection, but flags the ship in the Marshall Islands to avoid paying taxes to support the U.S. Navy? frick 'em.

We need to abandon that entire region. It's nothing but a hole that we throw American blood and treasure into with very little ROI. China, Japan, Korea, and Europe depend on Suez FAR more than we do. Let them get some skin in the game rather than always relying on the U.S. to protect their maritime trade. The Cold War ended over 30 years ago, so the Bretton Woods rules need no longer apply.

Gulf of Tonkin all over again with another warmongering D in charge. Why change it up if it works?

Blame the US govts restrictive/protective regulatory environment for sea going vessels.

I get that, but part of having the U.S. Navy's protection should involve financially supporting the U.S. Navy. The regulatory structure, while in dire need of being addressed, is a separate issue.

Exactly. The Houthis are just pawns. Playing whack-a-mole with them solves nothing. If we're not willing to completely destroy Iran's economy and ability to fund insurgencies and terrorism, then we're just spinning our wheels.

If we do escalate this thing, we better do a fricking job this time. You can’t play nice with these frickers. Of course, I don’t trust that we will.

Matt Walsh noted in the OP's tweet that this wasn't video of the actual incident.

I’m anti-war but if we have to use force to keep the shipping lanes open we need to announce how it will go then stick to this.

1. The US Military will destroy everything needed to eliminate the terrorist’s ability to fire missiles.

2. The US Military will then leave. We will NOT rebuild your shitty Nation.

3. If you fire more missiles later we will destroy your ability again but will never give you a dollar nor build anything in your Nation.
