A troubling trend out of Jefferson Parish to keep an eye on

Once a parish much more GOP than the state overall (bill clinton lost badly in 1992 and 1996), it's now starting to become....woke and purpleish?
2008: McCain +27 (in other words, Jefferson Parish was 34 points to the right of the nation)
2012: Romney +18.3 (Jefferson Parish was 22 points to the right of the nation)
2016: Trump +15 (Jefferson Parish was 17 points to the right of the nation)
2020: Trump +11 (Jefferson Parish was 15 points to the right of the nation)
So, not only are GOP candidates doing worse and worse here in raw terms as time goes on, but the parish is also getting less republican relative to the entire country.
This is bad news, not necessarily because it will end up making Louisiana competitive nationally, but because it will help dems have a chance at local and state level against a weak republican.
GOP needs Jefferson Parish to be a solid, red godzilla like dems have in places like Detroit and milwaukee that makes even state level races there close in friendly gop years.
If you don't think this is a problem, check out what jefferson parish did in 2019
John Bel EdwardsDemocratic 72,192 56.97%
'Eddie' Rispone Republican 54,536 43.03%

Every state will eventually be blue
Posted on 4/18/21 at 5:03 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
People are getting dumber and dumber and more reliant on the government

JP is losing population. It’s not losing people who vote blue.

Perhaps do nearby parishes as well to see if migration can account for this.

This trend is happening a lot of areas across the country, unfortunately.
The city grows, and it turns blue......and the suburbs stay red.

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

I would bet that a lot of it is due to conservative young families moving to St Tammany to raise their kids

This. People with resources in Jefferson Parish are moving across the lake to St. Tammany were the public school system is still very good.

This is also part of it. Democrats are trying to replace whites with government dependent browns.

Bah, nearly 1/2 of Conservative voters from La. who are on this board claimed 'Eddie' Rispone Republican was a horrible candidate.
Same with Conservative candidate for Kentucky who lost. Kentuckians claimed he was so bad, they couldn't vote for him.
When you put shite candidates up for vote, you have a chance to lose, and both lost on the square. And any viable candidate could of won KY.

No, young idealistic democrats running from the hell holes they helped create. When they move they aren’t as idealistic as when they were 20 but they still are prone to vote on emotions and feelings.
