A story about some lefties seeing the light

My daughter and her husband live in Seattle. They are wonderful people, with a one year old and another incubating. They are what I would call center-left, like just about every one of their friends. But two things have happened.
Washington has some kind of tax that is meant to provide some retirement benefit to the poor - only poor residents of Washington will ever receive it. It’s about 2% if I remember correctly, and it’s on top of state income tax and on “high earners”, which they are because of dual incomes.
When they found out about this they went off about how unfair it is, since they’ll never see it. I communicated that they were getting what they deserved by being absolutely silent and just nodding. That was a funny moment because she got the message but had nothing to argue against.
Now an even better situation has arisen. They are very close to her husband’s brother and his new family who live in a nearby city. The brother is not center-left; he’s way left. He was “promoted” to acting director of an arts group (I don’t want to give his identity away by being more specific). However, they won’t give him the permanent position, because they are searching for a “person of color”.
Both families are anxiously awaiting the final decision because my daughter’s family wants to move to the other city to be near them. But there is only one job like that in most major cities, so if he doesn’t get it he’ll have to move.
These four 30ish adults are having to live with the absurd consequences of their own voting, and it’s highly entertaining for me. In ten years they will be voting conservative, and will spend the rest of their lives undoing the damage they did.

Sadly, I wouldn’t count on this.

How did they become leftists?

People who vote for progressive politicians are getting what they deserve.

If you were a mean person, you could meme the shite out of them.

I'm not sure I'd underestimate the lifelong cultural programming they've undergone.
Being left wing is seen as "intellectual" and trendy, and in many ways as "forward-thinking".
Traditional values, religion, families, children, etc. Are seen as values from another era, an era created by racists, bigots, etc.
This mindset is DEEPLY ingrained in young Americans. They can't even totally argue for their stances because it's all apart of the programming to keep them programmed with slogans/buzzwords. They couldn't indoctrinate them without a big performative aspect to it. It's easy to scream out slogans, post black squares to social media. There's never an attempt to reason through stances, just plug the ears and do the sloganeered trend.
Look at the "pro-choice" movement, the more you look into it you begin to see how it is simply the "anti-pro-life" movement. They've been reared to adopt everything popular culture has told them to adopt out of fear of being removed from the in-group and hate everything that threatens the in-group hegemony (celebrities, elites, etc.).

Knowing this, why in the living hell would he even want to pursue that job any longer and work for imbeciles? He hasn't seen the light on anything, or he would tell them to frick right off and good luck finding their person of color.

My 16 yo nephew rolled out to the boat in an FJB tshirt the other morning. At least they’re not all misgendered blue haired fatties.

In 10 years they’ll be in Austin, Tx voting the same way they are now, unfortunately. And when that city is ruined (even more) they herd will move to another city and destroy that.

Unfortunately those of us who didn’t are paying just as much, if not more, of the price with them!

So does he view this as racist by being directly discriminated against being hired because of his skin color?
If he doesn’t, there is no hope for him and will never see the light

What makes you think they will be able to undo the damage that they have done by voting the way that they have?

Honestly, doubtful.

Simply say “you voted for it, why are you complaining?”

If we balanced budgets those nonessential jobs would disappear.

They might try, but the damage is done.

And to think, most of those guys Washington folks spend their time worrying about the shitty education kids receive in the 40 states that rank lower than them in education.

Unfortunately, in those areas, people who didn't vote for those progressive politicians, are also paying the price right along with those who did.
