A MS high school football player with D1 offers has been charged with murder

A Jones County teenager once considered one of South Jones High School’s rising football stars is now facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a classmate.
Anthony Jackson, 16, appeared in Jones County Youth Court on June 2, where a judge ruled that he will be prosecuted as an adult. His bond was set at $1 million.
Jackson is accused in the May 16 killing of 16-year-old Yahir Alba near a Texaco station along Highway 590 outside Ellisville. Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

Ellisville Police Department Investigator Kyle Pickett said several witnesses told them Alba and the suspect had been riding around with friends, smoking a vape that day. The argument is alleged to have started over a drink.

He chased the guy down and drowned him. In broad daylight near a gas station with multiple witnesses at that. Been all over the local Facebook news stuff in the pine belt.
