The majority of folks accept same sex marriage as a law and don’t care to overturn it, so why is another same sex marriage bill necessary?

It turns out that the new bill allows the IRS to revoke the tax exempt status of churches who hold fast to biblical doctrine on this issue.

Wow and the typical RINOs voted for it too.
Always some vile and evil agenda hidden in the details.

Please show me where that's located in the actual law. 1st Amendment protects churches in this situation using pretty established laws is my understanding.

proof?

This is coming up because Justice Thomas said the ruilings before need to be looked at. So the Dems are going to codify it before it gets overturned like Roe

If challenged, then that will like be found unconstitional. If it is constitutional, then there is no separation of church and state, and all that entails.

I smell wedding cake 2.0

Some gays who don't give a shite about which church performs the wedding will pick one that refuses and then the tax man attacks.
So, why don't gays just get married by all the churches that do it? Because gays don't want to be married. They want to be considered normal. And this is another step to go beyond acceptance and into the status of perfectly normal.

Can you please cite the specific language in the bill that states thusly?

Pretty sure Churches can refuse marriage services to hetero couples as well.

So I don't know if they'd really have a strong case here.

They don't want normal. Much like the jackasses from BLM, the alphabet people want supremacy. They want the rest of us to bend the knee to them while they laugh in our faces.

I've never heard of one. The Catholic Church has had a long policy of requiring a pre-marriage counseling session. And sometimes the priest will suggest 'This really is not a good idea...think about it.'
But they still go ahead and do it. But since the CC is not denominational (very little local option on policy) they cannot marry gays.

If you read the bill here is what it says.

quote:

Section 7 of title 1, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:“(a) For the purposes of any Federal law, rule, or regulation in which marital status is a factor, an individual shall be considered married if that individual’s marriage is valid in the State where the marriage was entered into or, in the case of a marriage entered into outside any State, if the marriage is valid in the place where entered into and the marriage could have been entered into in a State.

To me this is saying that a state like Alabama can ban gay marriage

Says nothing about IRS but keep spreading fake news.

Bill Text

Read the bill its very short.

That would be me. So, I offer this.

20 SEC. 6. NO IMPACT ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY AND CON-
21 SCIENCE.
22 (a) IN GENERAL.—Nothing in this Act, or any
23 amendment made by this Act, shall be construed to dimin-
24 ish or abrogate a religious liberty or conscience protection
25 otherwise available to an individual or organization under
26 the Constitution of the United States or Federal law.

So, if it is there, it is hidden in legalese, or something.

Yeah, but progressive Stalinists and RINOs are in charge.

Therefore, IRS > US Constitution.

This is just yet another torpedo targeted directly at the church. With the Episcopalians and the leadership in the Vatican already doing their part to dissolve the foundations of Christianity, a few well placed hits from the government can do massive damage.

But I'm just a conspiracy theorist. There's certainly no glaring abundance of information available, to anyone with a search function on their smart phone and a functioning brain, showing irrefutable evidence of the war against Judeo-Christianity.

No, I've had a LOT of IRL discussions with gays about this since college when 3 of my 8 dorm suite mates were gay (including my roommate).
Acceptance of gays is almost universal in America. It has improved a lot during my lifetime. But the best illustration is the extended family Christmas Dinner.
All of the adult kids go back home with their wives and young children. The gay son brings his boyfriend and everyone including the elderly treat them well.
But they do not consider them normal. And it can be felt.

The reason is because it is not normal. It's OK. It should be understood. But it's not any more normal than being 7 feet tall.
