Yeah he conveniently ignored that when I pointed it out earlier.
They also love to ignore that kid in Houma a couple years ago that got lit up by the cops after just waling out of his house with a TOY gun. No warning or anything just shot dead.

But treating them with respect and allowing them carte blanche to shot all over our civil rights (as you seem to advocate for in this thread) is ridiculous.
Bingo. Questioning them and holding them to a standard isn't "shitting on cops". They work for the people. Cops aren't some divine blessing from the gods, they're people doing a job. A risky one, but a job paid for by the taxpayer nonetheless. They shouldn't be deified or raised up more than the guy farming down the road to provide you with food.

That's kind of lazy comment. That's like me arguing the benefits of Asbestos because its better than nothing at all- it creates a false dichotomy.

Like that Australian woman in Minnesota who called the cops to report a crime and ended up shot dead by those same cops.
Seriously...it's so bad now...that almost everyone (White and black) says - "never call the cops for anything." They won't help you, they might shoot you and in the end they'll just start investigating you.

Never understood why their lives are deemed more precious than everyone else...they hand out tickets and sit in waiting to nab us on the highway and get parades if they die...
...what about people who actually help people - I don't know, social worker?...doctor? Jesus Christ, where is the doctors full parade????...
...hell even a stockbroker who makes moeney for people? Guy who bags your grocieries? Where's his parade if he dies? And least he didn't give you a ticket.

I am lily white and upper middle class, never been in trouble, except traffic kind of stuff, and believe in law and order.
But in my experience interacting with police have come to believe that they are loathsome in most cases. Police often times act in a manner as shady or worse than those they are chasing and at times are just toll collectors giving out tickets for public safety that are really about money grabbing.

Google any of the following,
Police shoot deaf man that failed to comply. Police shot man that didn't speak English, and failed to comply.
Police shoot man having drug reaction that failed to comply.
Police shoot mentally ill man that failed to comply.
I think there have been a dozen deaf people shot or tazed by police just this year, most did not do anything other than fail to follow orders they couldn't hear. The rest happen often enough that it would not even be considered rare.

I will agree that owning up to things you've done will always help you in the long run, but that last bit is just false. There are a lot of prosecutors who are more worried about getting a high conviction rate than doing the right thing. Defense lawyers exist for a reason. Even if a lot of them are scummy too.

I've got a lot of issues with law enforcement. But they are an essential part of a civilized society.
Everyone knows that power corrupts. We also know that police departments are legally allowed to discriminate against intelligence (held up by the Supreme Court).
So we need proper accountability. The technology is available. We need to use it. Because there have been too many instances of cops lying to cover their or their buddies arse.
We also need to end the war on drugs. It's led to a militarization of the police force. Prison isn't solving the drug problem. It's only led to police looking at citizens as the enemy.
End the prison industrial complex, and get back to old school serve and protect.

I think we need to improve training for officers across the board, stop wasteful spending, pay officers better salaries and no more ride alone patrols. Everyone rides with a partner.
The better training means they can use better tactics for specific situations. Ending wasteful spending means we can use it for training and things that actually need the funding. The better salaries will attract better candidates and reduce some of the stress the job has. And making sure no one rides alone, especially at night, will help officers feel safer doing traffic stops and other duties and not feel the need to go for the lethal option first. I'm not an expert in law enforcement, but based off of my limited observations, I think those things would be a good start to improving policing in America.

Definitely improved training is needed. I'd also rather see fewer, but better paid police. With more money, you could recruit better candidates.

what nonsense - I swear, there must be something effecting the minds of people these days. The amount of stupidity being put forth by the left wing radicals these days is way out of proportion for it to be due to natural causes.

What if a cop tells you to get on your knees and suck his cock? What if he tells you to empty your wallet and he'll go away? What if he tells you to make false allegations against your friend so they have someone to arrest?

What if you don't have an outstanding warrant and a swat team kicks in your door in the middle of the night with their guns drawn?

Does this apply to cops too or are they above the law? Should they be able to make up crimes to charge you with? Should they be able to tell you to stop doing legal things?
What the hell is going on this morning? Is this the start of 'let's see how stupid we can be??"
