Ive wondered where this sudden groundswell of progressive will to remove confederate statues when it really isnt a good political move for them. Its not rational at all, so what is it?

I think the answer is frustration and anger over white southerners unwavering opposition to progressivism and support of Trump. Removing statues is punishment. Its our ancestors, most of whom were non-slave owning, poor workers and farmers who fought for the Confederacy. This is a giant middle finger to the South. When they portray your ancestors as traitorous, evil, white supremacists, they are saying you are illegitimate Americans and your input shouldnt be considered legitimate regarding the future of this country.

Progressives hate us for opposing Obama policies for 8 years and electing Trump. When they attack your family's history, they are attacking you.

Indeed Soros would never be one to use his fortune to fan flames of anger and frustration...

Libtards are trying to prove that Trump's supporters really are a basket full of deplorables. It's just that simple.

Step one, attack enough heritage statues to trigger actual hate groups.

Two, DNC politicians then have the "alt-right" morons forced from their protest area (the park) into the streets where the alt-left morons are. Alt-left morons start the violence and the alt-right morons respond.

Step three, liberal biased MSM declares violence due to Right, and attack the right and Trump 24/7! DNC and GOPe quickly join in.

Step four, rinse and repeat!

Soros has been linked to several protest groups. Don't act like it's a conspiracy theory.

As to the OP, it's just a stepping stone to removing the Founders and all of American history. The sooner people realize that progressive = marxist, the better off we'll all be.

Soros is responsible for everything bad. Except for the things that the media is responsible for. Maybe Soros is responsible for the media being responsible for everything? I'm not sure, just workshopping here.

I think it's a fairly easy argument that the removal of the statues in Nola was a politically rational move.

I don't know the political/racial demographics of Charlottesville.

That being said, from the standpoint of avoiding creating rallying points for the worst among us, politicians should avoid removal based on what's best for the community for now. The political climate is too charged for removal IMV.

We can agree to disagree about New Orleans. I highly doubt blacks thought twice about statues and I doubtbit garnered any more support for the mayor and city council

You mean like you guys attacked Obama like trying to claim he was born in Kenya or was a muslim or...well you get the idea.

Progressives don't oppose you because you didn't like 44...they oppose you because they disagree with you.

Maybe your attempt to discredit facts through exaggeration would be more effective if anyone, anywhere had ever said this.

Not long ago, the Atlantic had a series of articles online about manufacturing facilities opening in the south. Many of the comments basically said that the South was fighting the Civil War all over again by becoming hostile to unions with the intent of making the South more business friendly at the North's expense.

no one thinks EVERYONE in the south at the time was racist, but the very "foundation" and "cornerstone" of the confederate government was white supremacy. ignoring that is the revisionist history people here claim to hate.

jesus christ, dont be such a drama queen. stop looking for any possible microaggression to play up your victimhood.

That is why the statues all came down during the Obama administration. Right?
