Given that he's had 2 assassination attempts against him in less than a year and some are foaming at the mouth about him, for an authority figure to suggest killing him in this volatile climate, I think its reasonable to apply the following...
quote:
For legal purposes a true threat is a statement directed towards a specific person and meant to frighten or intimidate another person and make them believe that they will be seriously harmed by the speaker or by someone acting on behalf of the speaker. True threats are not protected by the First Amendment. A person who makes a true threat can be charged with a crime, prosecuted, convicted and punished

86 47 means:
Kixx Trump
Free speech ends when you threaten to kixx someone.
And if that person is the President of the United States, it is an attack on everyone that voted for him, the American system, and the justice system.
There are other means he could have used, like I hate Trump, I do not think he should be President, no he took it to defcon and beyond.

It’s called free speech.
Should the line be different? What do you think?
Why don't you try out your free speech theory and next time you board a plane joke with a ticket agent and them them you have a bomb.

If Alex Jones had posted "86 44" he would've been arrested pronto, and the corrupt, bought-and-paid-for corporate media would've talked about the threat posed by "far right-wing" hate groups 24/7.
Let's not act like that wouldn't have happened.
What if he had worn an 8646 t-shirt you can still buy on Amazon? You can still get about 4 different styles of those and that old frick isn't even President anymore. Is Amazon still promoting the assassination of Joe Biden?

Threatening the life of the president...not free speech.

It’s called free speech.
Then why is it illegal to yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater?
Its because everything is not considered free speech. Calling for the assassination of the president isnt an accepted form of free speech, since Ole Abe attended the theater
quote:
Threatening the president of the United States is a federal felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871. It consists of knowingly and willfully mailing or otherwise making "any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict great bodily harm upon the president of the United States".
Convictions under 18 U.S.C. § 871 have been handed down for:
* "President Wilson ought to be killed. It is a wonder some one has not done it already. If I had an opportunity, I would do it myself"
* "Wilson is a wooden-headed son of a bitch. I wish Wilson was in hell, and if I had the power I would put him there."
* "Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Communist and destroyer of private business. I warn you, if you destroy my business I will strangle you with my own hands. May your soul be exterminated in hell."
"President Roosevelt is one guy I hate. If I had the money, I would go to Washington and kill the president and if he ever comes south I will."
* "President Roosevelt is one guy I hate. If I had the money, I would go to Washington and kill the president and if he ever comes south I will."
* "I Call for the assassination of GW Bush" and "Rape and Kill Laura Bush"
* "People, the time has come for revolution. It is time for Obama to die. I am dedicating my life to the death of Obama and every employee of the federal government. As I promised in a previous post, if the health care reform bill passed I would become a terrorist. Today I become a terrorist."
* Craig Robertson threatened to assassinate President Joe Biden and the Manhattan D.A. in multiple posts made on Facebook. He was killed while a search warrant was being served by FBI agents on his home
* Displaying a poster urging passersby to "hang Roosevelt". (this precedent should sink Comey)

It is.
Is this free speech?

Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. After this, we’re going to walk down and I’ll be there with you. We’re going to walk down. We’re going to walk down any one you want, but I think right here. We’re going walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.

Of course it’s free speech but sometimes free speech can get someone into a lot of trouble

It’s not threatening. You are intentionally taking an extreme interpretation to fit your narrative.

Comey is so arrogant he just wants attention for his novel.
What will be interesting is the attention that's placed on him for renewed scrutiny for his involvement on the Spygate/Crossfire Hurricane/Crossfire Razor/Cross Wind investigations.
There's a lot of people who were woken up from the MSM mass formation hypnosis spell from 2021-2025 who have learned to look a little more critically than they did when it was happening during the 45 era.

Not in Comey's case. He knew what he was doing and right now, MAGA is helping him realize the benefits of his actions.

While technically being free speech do you think Comey would be able to successfully hide behind that had he made a post for some reason using the “n” word?
Yelling “fire” is technically free speech but there’s consequences for someone who does so in a crowded theater.
See, any of us can cherry pick things as well.
DJT not even one year ago had someone fire bullets at him while speaking on stage.
Anyone with even one ounce of common sense (on both sides politically) would acknowledge political tensions in this country have been at a simmer for several years now.
For someone like Comey, holding the position he once did, to come out and make a post that a sizeable chunk of the country immediately recognizes as a code for violence and then try to walk it back like he had no idea (being a former director of the nation’s top law enforcement arm) is simply disingenuous and irresponsible.
