Do you realize how much more infectious Delta has to be to make up for the vaccinated and prior infected and dead?

I don't know if the numbers have been updated, but the estimates earlier in the summer were: 2X more infectious, 60% more transmissible and up to 1000X the viral load (which I haven't heard people talk about in forever and was one of the great ignored aspects of the original pandemic when we were telling people they couldn't even be outside within a mile of their neighbors safely.)

Attacking a population with ENORMOUSLY over 75% of the most at risk people having been vaccinated or already getting it. Hmmmmmm

And yet, the death rate is lower now than when case numbers were at this point previously.

I came to post that very screenshot.

What is actually “widely known” is that anyone who takes any pronouncement whatsoever by the CDC at face value is an unthinking stooge.

Somehow, we are being told our hospitals are being over run.

There's a difference between the hysteria and reality. Have you ever dug into these claims before? It's extremely difficult. Hints the hysteria. We are essentially comparing covid-era hospitalization capacity to nothing. Internally, we don't actually know what's going on. Not to mention aggregated hospital statistics are meaningless because the "system" is thousands of hospitals. How many are actually overrun and for how long? None of these questions we can answer with crowdsourced data so the hysteria continues. The bed numbers and their ability to staff to them are also fluid to pile on.

We went from "Get the vaccine and you can have ALL your freedoms back" to "yeah, you got the vaccine but those meanie heads who haven't mean you can't be free yet" inside of 60 days.

Mind you, the whole, "get it and you'll be free" rhetoric was WAAAAY before anyone even could have hoped EVERYONE would be vaccinated at that time.

He did not say "“You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.”

You’re paying attention to some remarks he made later. The article I linked was about actual remarks he made on that date during a CNN Townhall. I linked an article that quoted him. But maybe you’re one of those slow readers and prefer videos where the news source chose a video that misrepresents their own content. I admit my error in trusting that news outlets would actually support their content with video evidence. I’m not a fan of sitting through ads and find I can absorb more by reading instead.

There are other sources. Even CNN acknowledges it happened during their planned and scripted “town hall” event. shite, the Whitehouse even owns up to it.

You can read the verbatim transcript LINK . Since it appears you are lazy, I’ll try to make it simple for you. Do a word search for “Covid “ he makes that quote the very first time that word appears in the interview.

Actually..............ALL of this.

They love to point at Hospital X being full............while completely ignoring that Hospital X isn't in some remote island inaccessible to the world.

What do you mean? I've been vaxxed for months. My only slight concern at this point is the chance of "long" covid. I'm not down to lose my smell the rest of my life (or whatever). I'm way more scared of something like that than dying. Dying doesn't even cross my mind.

It’s your choice to worry about something that’ll never happen. What I don’t understand is why you need others to worry with you.

Mayo says 50-75% get this symptom and that only 10% of those who even GET this symptom, experience some permanent loss.

So. You are "scared" of something that is less likely to happen to you in the next year than dying in a car accident? Have you changed your driving habits in the last year? Do you ONLY drive when you MUST? I mean, ya know. Since you are so easily scared.

Car accidents don't have exponential growth like viral epidemics, though. The decision for most people to get a vaccine involves a component of protecting others as well as oneself. I think part of what the conservative movement attaches to with this issue is an attempt to negate the clear effects of collective public health behaviors. They're analogous for loads of other types of problems, but so much more quickly evident here.

The vaccines DO NOT work on the variants....and my son had it last week, lives in my home, and no one caught it form him....

We have natural protection! This vaccine is way overrated based on the current situation....and the numbers prove it.

I'm ONLY talking about HIS personal concern. Surely that was clear.

1. We know natural immunity is more robust than the vaccines are for the individual. But is a person with natural immunity more likely to spread the virus than someone that’s vaccinated but never had the virus?

2. All of this debate ignores, in my mind, something that should be on the table - does Covid, the real Covid, not the overhyped version, warrant all the consideration that is afforded it in discussing vaccines, etc?

Much smarter, more accomplished and well educated people than you have already gone on record saying the heavy handed method by which these vaccines have been rammed down our throats will do far greater damage than the supposed anti-vax movement.

and the answer to this is "no" and has ALWAYS been no.

COVID should have been treated as just a new thing that sometimes kills people.

ZERO shut downs. ZERO scare tactics. PERIOD. What it ended up being was nothing more than a chance for opportunistic people to be opportunistic

Hell.

Fauci ADMITTED lying about them early on because he was concerned if he were honest, it wouldn't generate the needed public motivation. These people have been utter morons on this.

They've also flat out pretended the vaccines are something they aren't by suddenly forgetting ALL of medical history and the reality that with ALL...........repeat ALL new treatments.........there will be unknowns that show themselves along the way.

Running around acting like these things were the rough equivalent of your WELL AND LONG KNOWN childhood vaccines just set themselves up for the inevitable which they HAD to know was coming.

Hell. I've spent most of my life laughing my arse off at anti-vaxxers and then COVID comes along and the frickers lie at every turn. I'm still not anti-vax but sheesh. Nice job fellas.

Oh. By the way. Ya know what car accidents DO that epidemics don't do.

Car accidents have basically NO cure. They go on forever. Viral epidemics do NOT grow exponentially forever.

I could save more lives RIGHT NOW than COVID could EVER hope to kill by simply reducing ALL speed limits in America by half.

Of course, we don't do that because it would be fricking stupid. Because for known things, we're pretty good at deciding what we're willing to give up.

But we make "people will die" decisions ALL THE DAMNED TIME that kill more people than COVID EVER will
