5 Most Powerful Government Positions

Not counting the POTUS, what would you say are the five most powerful government positions in Washington? Examples would be certain cabinet positions, congressional leadership roles, White House positions, etc. Assume the people in these roles are equal in competence and personal influence and the state of the nation is such that no particular position is emphasized beyond the norm.

Most powerful person in Washington is the Fed Chairman. Even the President has no input on what the Fed does.

Very true statement. The SoS from those states were big in the steal of the century.

Cia, fbi, nsa, doj.. it wouldn't be the head of those agencies. It wouldn't be the deputies of those agencies. It would be the positions a little lower than the deputy position. People in Positions, of those agencies, close to the top that rarely get switched out.

This is pretty much spot on, at least during "usual" government operation.
Right now with the proliferation of executive orders, the President holds 99% of the power.
If the list were to include those outside the government, "the media" is right up there with the Speaker of the House in importance and power. Regular, uneducated Americans don't realize just how much power the unelected members of the mainstream media hold.
They managed to oust one of the more successful presidents of all time (when it comes to improving lives of the average American) through a smear campaign like no other; a president that easily would've won re-election with an unbiased media.
They hold TREMENDOUS power when it comes to swaying politics and the future of our country, and they go completely unelected and unchecked.
Pretty crazy when you think about it.
