Military members cannot sue their employer for damages.
If the things they had happen to them in the military, happened to them in the civilian world, violating OSHA and a myriad of other federal laws, they could recover damages for the negligence of the company in placing them in hazardous conditions.
VA disability is like a prenuptual. Instead of suing, they pre-determine what rating you get if you get gut shot, or an arm blown off, or hearing damage from explosions and rifle fire.
It is not disability in the sense that they cannot still work. It is compensation for each injury sustained which may affect quality of life.

Give the Democrats control of all three branches of the Federal Government and they will fix this problem, guaranteed.

ONLY Democrats have the courage and conviction to END Veteran Welfare Fraud.

I think Caleb Hammer has done more to expose this and make it an issue and others like Shapiro are exploiting the niche created by CH

In the past this was a "if you know, you know" thing but Caleb Hammer has made exposed it in a major way nationally

The U.S. government pays out billions in military disability compensation, with annual costs exceeding $149 billion. Monthly, tax-free compensation rates for a single veteran range from $180.42 for a 10% disability rating to $3,938.58 for a 100% disability rating. [1, 2, 3]

Downvoting facts huh? What problem do you have with this being posted?

so roughly 4 out of every 10 living veterans receive VA disability compensation

Thought it would be much closer to 100% to be honest.

Until all the illegals and somalians arent receiving a single dime from the US government, I cant begin to care whether veterans are or aren't scamming for benefits, its a drop in the bucket compared to what much less deserving people are getting.

If we're going to start cleaning up who's getting money from the government, the veterans should be the very last group on the list to audit.

I’m surprised it’s not higher than 40%.

Many years ago, the VA tried to move to more of a "service connected", model where if you smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years should not be burdensome for the VA. Were it not so intertwined with education of healthcare workers (most VAs are associated with medical schools, I would say wind them down and give the veterans vouchers for healthcare they needed.

Before you say they served, so they deserve, and I agree if their claim is legit. The other argument is "I would rather they get it than welfare queens," and again, I agree, but it doesn't have to be one or the other.

Good thread. If the claims are righteous, absolutely. If not, kick them off.

An observation I've made, is the number of people qualifying for 100% disability, have changed. It seemed to be, in the past, very difficult to achieve... taking years to get that approval. An older friend, a Vietnam vet, spent 5-7 years to process very real physical and mental illness.

Most claims seem to be from easily faked issues or issues that we all suffer from as we age. I always figured PTSD was the easiest for scammers to make a claim

Now, as you've alluded to, there are vague, not easy to confirm reasons for people being granted this designation. Recently, I watched as a case cut to 18 months for an individual using this as justification.

I've often wondered, with the number of 'sick' individuals who joined the service to have 'tranny' benefits, have we also attracted others who are looking for an equivalent lottery 'meal-ticket' just for being creative and lazy.

Is it time to talk about VA benefits abuse being another welfare scam?

Some possibly could be but with the multitude of pharmaceutical "testing" done on all of our troops along with multiple vax and those that tended burn pits and other dangerous situations...

Bad drugs could threaten US troops: Inside lab doing groundbreaking tests to address it:

For years we've been investigating poorly made generic drugs, but now, a new chapter: What if the same problems we've been reporting on could affect the readiness of US troops?

We got an exclusive look inside a Connecticut lab that's testing the military's drug supply. What they're finding could have serious implications for national security.

Different motivations for CH than Shapiro. I’m shocked to see MAGA seemingly take up this mantle that a decade ago was a staple of leftist ideologues.

Yeah, the veterans going on his podcast looking healthy while admitting they have other jobs on top of 90% disability has done a lot of damage the past few years.

Yes, a large percentage of veterans who are receiving disability benefits are full of crap on don’t want to work. Unfortunately, not everyone who joins the military is an honest saint

It’s abused badly. I know several state troopers who got a PTSD write up from the VA and they got the double whammy - fed and state disability retirement. One of my friends draws the equivalent of a 100,000+ salary and is in his 50s and fit. That’s good money for sitting at the house in rural GA.
