Veterans stopped killing themselves.

That is not at all true.
The VA Suicide annual report of 2025 (PDF) shows that veteran suicide rates have been steady at a little above 6k a year from 2001 to 2023, with no significant changes, unlike civilian suicides which have increased from 23,559 to 41,313 over the same period.

Ok. I’ll let the “combat veteran welfare queens” as you called them know you’re super duper upset and want them to suffer through more invasive consultations to prove they’re disabled (again) so you can feel good about saving the feds money if one doesn’t meet your criteria.

I am a vet. I have no disabilities service related or otherwise. I have nothing against getting benefits.

They also gave you MREs while they were in the service. Did they continue eating MREs when they got out of the service?

Are MRE's addictive?

There's no such thing as peacetime in the forever war era.

Yeah my buddy was in the gulf wars, got 100% disability for hearing loss.

Wears hearing aids and now works in Abu Dhabi for a company that triangulates cell calls using satellites for various security services.

Makes $$$ from his main job and $ from his disability.

Does your job not take care of you if you break your back jumping out of airplanes? I made sure mine did before I joined. It happened in 98. Sorry nobody was shooting at me while I was training.

Anyone that served in the Gulf to include in the 90s and people that served in other wars like Vietnam can go back and file for pact act injuries. Until the Pact act you couldnt file for them. Thats also a reason they have increased so much, many people are filing now because they couldn't before.

You know they’re not going to tax you less, right?

You did it, man! You took money from veterans so our government can send it overseas instead.

i have said time and again to you that legitimately disabled vets should receive whatever disability they rate. are you deliberately making things up like this, or are you confusing me with someone else

i also never called combat veterans welfare queens, so i dont know why you are saying that or why you put it in quotes. i literally never said that. i am a combat vet and i know many combat vets personally - many of us still serving. the ones who get disability based on their very real claims, i fully support.

This is the least of our country’s problems.

Is it?

AI says it costs about $160 Billion a year.

If true, that means we spend more on this in two years than we've given to Israel in inflation adjusted dollars EVER. All time.

Yet populists here have literally posted that they had to get a second job because of all the money we give Israel.

How?

The government robbing me and giving my money to foreigners is the bigger issue when it comes to money that is being stolen from me.

Who do you think runs the government?

I would much rather be able to have a conversation with someone where any moderate background noise makes it impossible and to be able to understand what somebody not looking directly at me is saying.

I would also much rather not have another issue I have from something I was exposed to while serving.....

than be on disability. it's peanuts........

From my own battle with the VA, once you hit 55 they aren’t as hardassed like previously, especially if you have received disability for years. When I did my last C&P exam in 2018, my examiner told me up front that she was going to recommend me for 100% for my age more than my actual ratings. Good luck to you in the future!
