“a small percentage of Americans have sacrificed blood for this nation”

I don’t see it this way,not since WW2.I see it as having sacrificed blood for the MIC.Lots of retired flag officers and politicians have gotten rich. That’s all they care about.

I'm in the Navy. We have our problems but we'll be fine.

I believe in Reagan’s philosophy -peace through strength.
Build a strong, competent military but our military has lost its way.
NATO has outlived its usefulness arguably, nevertheless most of the members of NATO have not contributed their agreed upon share of their commitment for their defense, rather they rely on Uncle Sucker.
No one ever called them out on it except Trump. Our official policy has been to overlook it,I believe to require us to spend inordinate amounts of money to enrich the MIC.
A strong Navy would go a long way towards projecting American strength but I don’t think we have a particularly strong Navy anymore.
Now it’s more about social agendas.Women on ships has been a disaster, they are a huge distraction and do nothing to promote unit cohesiveness.Last few years, more time has been spent on diversity, equity, inclusion training than warfighting skills.
Officers aren’t promoted on ability, rather it’s a huge social club-kiss arse to climb the ladder. Therefore,we end up with, senior officers that are incompetent and without integrity( read about the “Fat Leonard” scandal).
The Navy pissed away many billions of dollars on the Littoral Combat Ship program, envisioned by an incompetent CNO who predictably went on the board of Raytheon after retirement.

The Afghanistan withdrawal,IMO,is pretty indicative of the incompetence of our military leadership.

How much money did Austin make from Pfizer for mandating Covid “vaccination”
Reportedly, over 100 military pilots were grounded due to myocarditis and pericarditis.8000 servicemen were booted for refusing the vax,now they can come back, only 43 have accepted. That’s pretty telling. Many of those guys served in Afghanistan and Iraq and they were unceremoniously booted out.I know one of them,he is understandably bitter. He has 10 years and isn’t going back.
This episode,I suspect,is going to have a negative impact on recruitment going forward.

I could go on.Bottom line,I don’t have a lot of faith in our military.I have one grandson that is a Navy pilot,no more of my grandsons are joining if I have anything to do about it.

You youngins that like to hang out in your parents house playing video games all day and partying all night are about to get real cultural shock.

Better brush up on which one is your left and which one is you’re right.

This is a little disingenuous. The downsize only affects special operations support, not "door-kickers"like Green Berets.

I’m from a military family, I served as well, and as much as it pains me to say it, part of me wants a world wide conflict with a draft here in the US. For too long a small percentage of Americans have sacrificed blood for this nation while the other 99% bitch and do nothing. Maybe forcing some leftists to actually fight a war would change their perspective

Vietnam proved this theory false

Agree. Anyone who's served knows that not everyone should be in the military. In fact, most shouldn't.

The U.S. is not anywhere remotely close to “staffing” any war fronts right now. We aren’t staffing Ukraine and we aren’t staffing Israel.

The military policy was designed to “staff” a front against 2 near-peer adversaries. Sending 100b in equipment to Ukraine doesn’t move that needle. Not surprised this OP has been upvoted to shite here, though.

Absolutely. Especially those that turn their backs on him. This country has committed atrocities at home and abroad. The harlot of Babylon. There is pain coming to this country that citizens thought only happens elsewhere.

The best CMC and XO I've ever served under in my 16 years of service were females. And a female CO was 1b to a male CO that's 1a.

Yes it creates some problems, but there are absolutely phenomenal women that serve in the military, including the Navy.

I would recommend you read up on some military history because everything you’ve mentioned has been going on since our inception.

You think it’s some new thing to promote based on politics rather than ability?

You think using the military as a social experiment just started?

You think upper echelon leadership forging a contract for new technology then becoming affiliated with the company for said contract is new?
