Maybe I look at this differently, because I live in a very rural area. I can tell you right now , if I was seriously hurt, 911 wouldn't be my 1st call, it would take them too long to get to me. At least 30 minutes, and then another 30, to get me to the hospital. I would call them last.

As I've already said, "The guy's Dad probably isn't strong enough to get his son in a vehicle. That's not easy to do alone. He needed help to do that, and he probably also wanted to get something to slow down the bleeding before he moved him. I think the son called 911 right after he called his Dad, and was still on the phone with them. If I am laying some place bleeding out, that's what I would do. Call for quick help 1st, then call 911.

Not to mention the Dad may have been in shock. We all say what we think we’d do, but I can’t imagine driving up on that situation.

Sounds like a thrill kill to me, but could but other things too. There was a kill thrill in a small village 20 minutes from my house where a 22-year-old killed two people so he could feel what it is like to murder someone.

Fairly certain dad knows way more about what happened than has been released.

Yeah, but I've heard of old men with bad backs, a whole lot more. That adrenaline stuff, there's a lot of it in movies, but it's in short supply with old people. I'm gonna say this again, "lifting a grown man aint easy", and if he's hurt bad enough, it might kill him.
One more thing: when somebody is covered with blood, it's like they have oil poured on them. Sweat and mud mixed in, it's a slick mess, and if you are going to break down and cry, like you probably would, if it's your Son, it's probably better if they don't see you.

Of course he does. The police don't release all information to the public. They hold important info back, that way they can use what they know, to distinguish between real and false leads. The old man has been told, to keep certain info to himself for now.

Dad was involved in some sort of manner or knows who was.
