It's not political correctness. I'm not from Africa, so I shouldn't be called African. I hate "African-American" for the same reason.
It's like if I called Ed Orgeron French-Canadian, or Joe Alleva Italian. It doesn't make sense.

Mom is a piece of work and daughter apparently likes to sling it around. Why was a 17yr old girl off on her own and able to have sex in a foreign country? These parents suck. And now this guy is going to pay the price. Absurd. Just release the guy and tell him he can't come back.

An 18-year-old British man who had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old British girl in Dubai while the pair were on holiday with their families has been sentenced to one year in prison, a campaign group has said.

Radha Stirling, the founder and chief executive of Detained in Dubai, said Fakana, who has been unable to leave the country since September, was "desperately hoping" to return home this week.
"But prosecutorial mishandling in the first stages of the case meant it wasn't heard as a misdemeanour when it should have been," she said.
"The family have issued a plea to Dubai ruler HH Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum to spare Marcus for consensual sex with another British citizen."

Just a complete shot in the dark, but it wouldn't surprise me if the girl comes from money, and the mom is out to teach the boy a caste lesson. This is a case where at least the name of the girl's mother, and her circumstance, should be made public knowledge. If the situation is what I suspect, she should be pilloried.

You also have not lived outside the US for any length of time.
The BBC has reported SEVERAL times the boy is from England. When Lima said "he is African" it must be because he read an article with an english flavor who described the kid as African from England.
And no I dont like hyphenated descriptions either

Eventually, her name & her daughter’s name will leak to the public & the daughter will be known as “that whore, that slut.” And then when some wit gives her a cutting nickname, that girl will be cursed the rest of her life.
